It says it's about H.W., or Bush Sr., not current Bush. I don't really think folks would rush to see a bio pic on current Bush immediately after he exits office.
Yeah. I was wondering what the H.W business was. I don't know why they'd do a biopic about Bush senior though, W would be far more entertaining IMO. But I agree it'd be too soon to do one about him.
The Hollywood Reporter has posted an interesting article on this movie, now simply titled W that's well worth checking out. They also have the first four pages of the October 15, 2007 draft of the script, which you can read here.
Cheers Chism, I was meaning to post this link to a Slate article where they have read the whole script and provided a review of it... http://www.slate.com/id/2188423/
It is indeed about the current President Bush, George W. The known cast list at the moment is..
George W - Josh Brolin Laura Bush - Elizabeth Banks George HW - James Cromwell (cool casting here!) Barbara Bush - Ellen Burstyn Condi Rice - Thandie Newton Tony Blair - Ioan Gruffud
I'm interested in seeing this picture, though "satire" is the first word I would like this film to apply to. However, they may make this a straight-up biopic; if that is the case, then I will still be in the audience but I won't be happy about it.
PLEASE review my first SimplyScripts submission....

I think it could be interesting either way.
If it's a bush bashing marathon that could be hilarious. Or, if they do take it seriously, it could be fairly poetic. There's a reading of his life that I've heard of, from some people, that seems fairly Shakespearean(i.e. stuck in his father's shadow and being out shined by his younger brother until he became president and... Well, you know the rest).
Forgot to mention that according to Cinematical, although they have not even started filming yet they have already lined up a distributer and announced a release date of this October! I am guessing they want it out before the election, I am assuming this movie will not be helping John Mccaine get elected!
That has got to be some kind of record though for a major picture nowadays.
Let's look at the math. It's Oliver Stone. hasn't done anything good in 20 years. It looks like a SNL sketch (I know! let's do a Bush impersonation! Harold & Kumar and Postal will never think of that!) AND they're rushing it to serve as part of a political campaign?
I have a feeling this is gonna be a very, very bad movie.
Fact of the matter is, doing a parody of George Bush is futility exemplified. Nobody tops the man himself when it comes to lampooning a presidency.
