Well, December 25th, a date best known as the release date of Lars Von Trier's "Nymphomaniac," is coming up quick! I'm not sure how quick we in North America will get to see it -- and I worry that for me, in Alberta, the odds of getting the hardcore cut in a theatre are kinda slim -- but I'm gonna go ahead and start getting excited anyway. The third "appetizer" has just been released, and it's got Uma. I can't wait for one with Christian Slater. Make sure to watch in HD! The first released still: The second released still: The third still contains nudity so I will not post it here. EDIT: Though actually, it appears as the thumbnail on the Chapter 2 appetizer. Haha. Yay! |

Bummer. I was really hoping for a 2013 North American release. Given that the Christmas release is the Danish premiere, I'd wager mid-2014 stateside (although Magnolia's been sitting on it for a while so hopefully sooner).
Nevertheless, it's due time that von Trier is back to do what he does best: wipe that smug smile off everyone's face. Digging the appetizers thus far. |

Really? So far, these 'appetizers' do nothing to whet my appetite and appear to be the usual vacuous, pretentious wank - no pun intended. Lars Von Trier usually manages some magical moments of inspired film-making (Melancholia) in amongst the mire, much like Terrence Malick - 'Tree of Life' - which ultimately tried my patience, but so far... if this is what we have to go on I think I'd be better off seeking out 'All About Anna'. I will however try not to pre-judge on one-minute grabs. I really, really hope this is good. I also hope it has an engaging 'story' to it. |

Now THAT'S harsh! Pink Prison was better than All About Anna, for gosh sakes... Okay, I'm exaggerating slightly. Seriously, though, I'd agree that there's nothing too exciting in the teasers. My excitement is based on the project alone -- Von Trier hasn't disappointed me yet. But yeah, I'd call the teasers amusingly devoid of content. |

Yep. I was just looking forward to what I might see, and then disappointed there wasn't more. Mission accomplished I suppose in him leaving me wanting more. Post up a full trailer if, and when... if you spot one. |

I remember that scene with the two black dudes was on imdb was taken off once, then put back a few days later . Naturally, I want to watch the video but I don't want to see any spoilers. Only watched Melancholia but I've heard how confronting his other films are. I'm a fan of Charlotte Gainsbourg though, this has been on my watch list for quite a while now. |

Actually, I was very close to it but somebody recommended that Antichrist be the last Von Trier film I watch. I was interested in that Bjork one, have heard the ending isn't for the faint hearted. I might do a little marathon when Nymphomaniac is released. Interesting fact, Shia LaBeouf has real on set sex with his girlfriend in the film, not entirely sure if that's true. |

Oh dear, there's just something in the vein of 'too much information' re those photos. And, does anyone think Joe's head looks like it was stuck on? Oh well, still looking forward to this, especially the reviews. |

I will refrain from posting the Chapter 5 appetizer here because it is, er, NSFW -- apparently it is safe for YouTube, though, which is fascinating.
But I strongly recommend popping over to YouTube and hunting it down! |

I'm not sure if it will come out in theaters here or not, probably not. Oh well, I'll be able to find it on pornhub once it comes out anyways |
| A bad writer, trying to become decent...
Thank you for all who put up with my work and try and help me improve.
Practice will hopefully pay off for my writing. |

I read that Lars is having the genitals of porn stars 'digitally composited' onto the bodies off the actual cast. Surely, it can't be any more graphic than Antichrist... |

Trailer is up. Definitely cannot post here but it's on YouTube, the official site, and a myriad of others. Take a look. Clearly, the restraint of Melancholia has been thrown to the wind; back to old school Lars here. Think Rammstein might have written a theme song for it too. Can't wait. |

Yeah, he definitely went all out on this trailer... But I'm holding off all judgement. Finally got to Dancer in the Dark and Antichrist, nothing amazing but I appreciate what he was going for. Antichrist was definitely a hard film to stomach but there was still something special about it that I liked. |

Just saw the trailer...
An onscreen BJ, man juice running down a woman's leg, man juice running out a woman's mouth, and this is just the trailer?
God. |

Here we go!
Part 1 hits U.S. theaters March 21 and VOD March 6.
Part 2 follows April 18 (VOD April 3).
Thankfully, Magnolia has opted not to pull a Kill Bill on this one and stick a six-month waiting period in between the two parts. This is most reasonable. |

Just finished watching Volume One. I think I will save a review for after I've seen the second.
So far... it's worth the two hours. I'm not entirely sold on most of the characters yet, but I hope in watching Volume Two, it will payoff. Very surprisingly, this film is way more engaging than it should be, and I'll admit it wasn't what I expected... at all.
Uma Thurman's "chapter" in this was brilliant. And Christian Slater brings a heart of two ends of the spectrum. But the most mysterious, intellectual, voyeuristic side of the story is watching Charlotte Gainsbourg and Stellan Skarsgard interact with each other. Seriously, this is destined to make no sense whatsoever, yet it totally does.
Can't wait to see how it ends. |

Finished both volumes. Lars von Trier's best film, hands down. Certainly the most definitive as it includes elements of all his previous films and some new ones as well. It's also surprisingly easy to watch. Honestly, I wish they'd released it as one film.
Vol. II is a lot darker and brutal than I and the ending will probably split a lot of people but if you've ever seen a von Trier film, you should have an idea of what to expect. |

I'll probably watch this on the weekend, only because I want to watch the volume back to back. It can't be more stomach churning than Antichrist... Right? |

It's not as stomach churning as Antichrist. However the scenes with Gainsbourg and Jamie Bell are quite extreme. Surely Billy Elliot fans won't be able to look at him the same ever again. That said, there is a rather blatant homage to Antichrist in Vol. II. It's incredibly cheeky and indulgent but you almost have to laugh when it happens. |

Just finished volume two. I watched volume one a few days ago and liked some things about it but I never really felt the desire to finish it but since I had already committed two hours, what's another two?
With the first volume the conversations between Joe and Seligman didn't really sit well with me, some of it got annoying. I found the opposite in volume two though, I found the philosophical ideas to be much more interesting.
Volume two definitely cranks the brutality up and it's honestly a hard movie to really be like "Yeah, that was great". It was entertaining, that's for sure, there were some good ideas as well but it's definitely a hard movie to really review. The ending I weirdly saw coming, Lars is definitely a cynic.
Overall, I'm glad I watched it, anything Lars does makes some good conversation. Can't say I'll watch it ever again but Lars still will have me watching anything that sick bastard does and I don't know why. |
