This came out of absolutely nowhere and, IMO, looks fan-fuckin'-tastic! Kristen Stewart and, to a lesser extent, the PG-13 rating do worry me a bit... But this is an awesome first trailer. I'll be seeing this one in theaters for sure.
I like my stories Simple. Straightforward. A to B. No C.
The trailer looks pretty generic, Alien meets The Megalodon but I'm curious to hear why Kristen Stewart would worry you.
She's developed into one of more unpredictable and versatile actresses of recent years, particularly having come from a major franchise. She regularly takes on challenging roles with interesting filmmakers. Her career trajectory has mirrored that of Robert Pattinson's actually in the best possible way.
Will need to check out the trailer later, but based on what I've read, there seems to be at least the hope/potential for a decent no-frills genre flick. I do appreciate the concept of the underwater sci-fi/horror movie in general, although the vast majority of the real ones are bad (even the good ones). Hopefully, this one fares better. I am intrigued by the sheer randomness of the cast; could make for a fun lark if the plot ends up not being any good.
Honestly, Kristin Stewart isn't the one to worry about. What is of major concern is the "Fuck You" January release date. Easy to forget November isn't the only turkey month of the year.
I was a sucker for Leviathan, Deep Star Six, even The Abyss. I'd watch this. The only question is will I pay theater prices for it or wait for streaming. That will come down to the audience reviews (definitely not a critic movie).
