Goose has greenlighted the project

This is now the official thread for Midnight Moves III.
The basic connecting segments takes place in an attic, with small child pulling items out of a toy box that relate to each of the stories. The stories each take place in a small town of Midnight Moves.

I'm going at a slightly different approach to III then to I. Midnight Moves was written as cheesy b-movie shlock fest. I'm looking for tales that are full out assaults on the senses. They don't have to be cheesy for cheesy sake, they can be funny, scary or whatever fits the scene. The main goal is to scare people, disturb them, and then make them laugh. Write absurdist horror tinged with satire, rather then paroady.
And I'm looking for top-notch writing as well, developed characters, intriguing plots, and the whole lot. Most of all we want to captivate the readers, you know.
When the writers are choosen, I highly encourage that each keeps in contact with one-another, so that the stories tie in together, and the stories are works that everyone can be pleased with. Please no reclusive writers.

The stories can be anywhere from 15-30 pages, a 20 page script would be ideal, though.

A few ground rules for writers:

No porn.

Any subject is ok, as long as it's in the realm of horror.

No short written plainly to be "stupid" horror, corniness is only funny when it's unintentional.

Please be sure to collaberate and keep in contact with the other writers. This shouldn't just be, you write a short and then turn it in. We want to make sure everything fits together, you know.

And lastly, have fun, Midnight Moves rocked because people got into the segments, if you have an idea you want to roll with, then roll with it

Anyone is welcome to write a story for the anthology, but if the other writers or I don't think it's up to par, I reserve the right to exclude it from the final anthology. I'm are looking for quality work only. At the very least try to put in what you beleive to be your best work.

The Titles - you may adapt them as you please.

The linking segment that ties the stories is called: The Toy Box (idea by Bert)

1. Not Quite the Last House on the Left - by Andrew Romance

2. Welcome Back, Mother - by George Willson

3. Midnight - by Topher Rhives

4. The Eye - by Cindy L Keller (in talks)

5. The Donner Party Special - by James McClung

6. Untitled - by Bert Newcomer

For those who are interested please tell me and send a brief synopsis of the short. thanks.

To the writers:
Each author should have a rough outline of the other stories, so we can look for opportunities to tie them together amongst ourselves

The writers have been chosen. If anyone wants to contribute, talk to the writers to see if they're willing to collaberate with another writer on their story. I'm keeping it at six stories, seven at a push, but for now, six stories works.

So now I think we should use this thread to discuss our ideals and give imput and such on them:

Have you guys started yet? It would be kind of weird if Midnight Moves III came out before MM2 so if you're further along I'd hold back because I'm not even sure if Goose has everybody back (heretic being the last to sign on from what I'm told)

Yes, I'd like to know how much time, too. I'd like to be a part of this, but I've got a lot of personal things going on right now. So if I had a month or so, it would be good.

From what I've exchanged with Topher by PM, we really don't want to step on Goose's toes (or webbed feet, as the case may be).

You guys (Wes, etc.) are up first -- at least for a couple of weeks -- and to us Cindy, I think that means a couple of months.

And collaboration is encouraged between the authors.  Everybody has an outline for everybody else and can give them ideas and stuff.  This could be really fun.  Do it.

I've got an idea for my segment already but want to wait until Midnight Moves II is done (or until these other guys have started writing their segments) to start. I'd also like to do the One Week Challenge and, frankly, I'm not even sure if my idea is cheesy enough for this yet .

Well I've started but what i mean is Heretic at this moment is a no show, he's a busy beaver these days so I'm not sure what's going on.

My segment may not equal Molly Dolly in pure raunch but it will add action and a grande epic story ha-ha but seriously it will only take me/us a couple weeks to write and get them together. We, like you guys have to keep them short or else people will not invest time into reading and nobody wants to turn people off by posting a 200 page script... right?

Maybe what we all can do is if we have "uncut, unedited" drafts we like better that are longer is do what Lunchroom did and get Don to place those versions in a thread simply titled Midnight Moves.

You'll get more views just because it's George and bert, no offense to the originals including myself but 4/5ths of us aren't exactly here as much for whatever reason.

Alright, I'm setting the deadline for October 31st to release this little anthology.

By September everyone should have a draft of what they're writing. Well exchange it with another collaberator and then by October 1st should have the second drafts ready.

Most of the people who signed up for 2 and 3 have kind of lost touch. The blame if you want to call it that rests on Goose and Topher sorry to say but it's the truth because they were supposed to bring us all together and just do it.

I could finish mine any time I want but like I've told both Topher and Goose what's the point? Only you (Cindy) have shown any worry or care for the MM franchise. I might just take the new draft of the old Molly Dolly along with my sequel Cutter's Story and realese them as a double short or something.

Well,
I got a PM from James. We are going to exchange first drafts.

If we're not going to do this thing, then will everyone just send in their scripts to the short section?

I had a moderate interest when this first came up, but like the others, I moved on when it seemed to die. If there is still some interest, I might try and dig up whatever I was supposed to do.

Thanks. This is in fact still in the works.

I have the rough draft from Cindy and hopefully I'm looking for rough drafts from the other writers soon.

Andrew, George, James and Bert drop me a PM with what you have. Even if it's a rough idea. We can work something out. My aim is to have this released around Halloween.

Thanks.

Alright for the first round of reviews.

I'll review "The Eye"

James and Bert can exchange drafts and Andrew and George can exchange drafts as well.

Then after the initial draft suggestions are done Bert and Andrew can exchange drafts and George and James can exchange their drafts as well.

This way we have a pre-reviewed script that the every writer thinks is our top notch work. When we have the completed anthology - The Toy Box linking segment done as well. We'll send those drafts out to the writers to do one last pre-release edit to hopefully clean up the stuff that we may not like.

Oh and remember the stories should link up to one another. Hence forth my story is a prequel to "The Eye" in some ways or another and will reference places and people who appear in the other scripts.

Then we can unleash Midnight Moves III onto the world.

Are you still looking for other writers for this or have you filled your quota? I've got a short horror/comedy idea I've been mulling over for a few weeks. I'll probably write it anyway but if you're looking for another script for this anthology I'll stop procrastinating and crank out a first draft asap.

Send me the idea and I'll pass it along to the other writers to see what they think of it. I mean if another writer drops out or misses the deadline then it never hurts to have something else on hand, you know.

Hey, I'm glad you jumped in there Martin.  You can take my spot.

I am sorry, but I am just too busy to contribute to this right now.

Too much going on in the "real world" haha.

Martin is top-notch, Topher.  You will be lucky to have him on board.

I might still be able to help with the "host" though -- those "in between" segments -- as I still have some really good ideas for her that would be a shame not to use.

Alrights, and thanks for the heads up Bert.  The delay for me was due to having a hectic filming schedule.

Alright so Martin is now on board.

I've read over "The Eye" and "The Donner Party Special."  I'm rather pleased with the drafts and I'm hoping that Andrew, Martin, and George will get back to me asap.

I haven't heard where Andrew and George are going with their idea. Martin sent me an idea and I'm actually impressed and curious to how it comes out.

This is just a general comment but it makes no sense to call it Midnight Moves III when II is dead in the water.

True. Howabout we call this Midnight Moves II and if the original II gets back on track and shows some life in it then that can be III.

That way we can release it without having to wait for II.

Can anyone send me on overview of stories that are in progress for this. I don't wanna write something totally removed from the overall theme. I know we have the toybox thing. Does that mean I should kick-off my story from a visual clue pulled from the toybox?

Ah the only thing you have to worry about it that there's a town of Midnight Moves.
And to pm the other writers the draft once you're done. If it's too out there, we'll tell you and you can always make revisions.

Haven't heard much more about this either. In any case, I still have to give this a once-over before I personally would call it done. I'll try to get on that right away. Things have been hectic with me as of late (midterms are an issue among other things) so I haven't been able to participate here as much as I'd like but this seems to be the only thing with a deadline right now so I'm going to try and get this thing out there before too long.

What's going on with this?

It would have been nice to have these scripts up on the board for Halloween reading.

If no one is going to get involved, would it be alright to send the individual scripts in to Don so he can post them for Halloween?

Once you write your part, it is your property. Maybe you should take yours and start your own MM series because at least you care enough to worry.

I enjoy being given assignments in the vain of cheesy comedy B horror. That might be what I do well.

The second Molly Dolly has become more of a Western Comedy and not even horror at all.

Well Wes, The Eye has turned out to be a real cheesy B short. It was fun to do AFTER I found time between all the overtime at work, and going to the darned doctors.
I like to keep my word though. If I say I will do something, then I try my hardest to get it done.

I just looked at this thread again. I haven't really since I last commented on it, and it seems a lot has gone on since then. My curse for only going through the portal since if there's a large influx of postings, stuff gets lost. I've found comments on my own scripts months later sometimes. Mine was called "Welcome Back, Mother." I remember having some ideas for it, since I was going off the title alone. I may see what I can put together. I feel that as a whole, we would miss the October 31st deadline, but maybe it can still become something.

And I'll try and keep up on these threads a bit more.

I started a script for this, but I've been busy with other projects. Now I've gone back to it and I'm plotting out the idea as a feature length script so I doubt I'll have anything to contribute for Midnight Moves.

James sent me his script for this and I thought it was great. Since Topher doesn't seem to be around, maybe you should just submit your scripts seperately.

I read James' script, too, and really liked it.

I reworked  The Eye and sent it in to Don to put up in the short section. I think it turned out alright. Could be a good little Halloween tale.

Well, it certainly appears that we'll be posting these seperate. In any case, I would have missed the October 31st deadline (my computer crashed). My backup is on a computer back home so I don't think I'll be posting mine for sometime.

Anyway, if there's still some chance of this becoming something collaborative, I'm still open to it but as of now that doesn't appear to be the case.
