If you are planning a Series Three, I would be very interested in taking part.

Is making my interest known here enough or do I need to pm someone?!

Your guidance would be welcome.

I'm very happy with the reads I got, but I'm disappointed with the number of reads to some of these other episodes. Board members who are regular contributors here spent a lot of time and effort, not to mention the iScripts as well, on these scripts.

Just mystified about this, I guess...

Me too, Pia.  I mentioned that awhile back on Michael's episode.  I just don't get it.  Almost like they're being purposely ignored for some odd reason.

What's the deal?

Why are we all inclined to bitch-bitch-bitch when others fail to meet our expectations. I suggest we all start bitching about our own faults and disregard the others' as to blame.

I'll start. You know what? I have still to read Tim's script and it's weighing on my mind, but so many things have gotten in the way. It's like that with everyone. We are all pulled in different directions and even when we make a concerted effort, still, things go wrong.

Jeff has completely given up on "Thief" and I understand, but he "promised" when he came on board and "No worries" "Cheers" from Michael, just goes to show you what an amazing man he really is.

I'm a bitch because at the same time as agreeing with him, I also think we need to make a commitment and stick to it for better or for worse. (This condition does NOT apply to Elis because she really has WAY TOO MUCH on her plate.

To be fair, it's my humble opinion, that we label the games for their degree of "seriousness". Kind of like Warcrafters. Some of them are ultra serious and even screen people to become part of their guilds.

Pia's point is solid. We should be paying attention to what's going on and I think for the most part, we are all trying.

My problem is, however, I don't want to paint with this random brush saying, "Evil! You numbskulls! Why-you-no-read these lesser knowns?"

Sometimes we are far too harsh (Hear me Jeff?). God knows how, but we need to find equilibrium and quit blaming people.

Right now, I'm trying to prepare a thorough review for George's book and work on "Thief" as well as study movies and languages and work with people in the community who need help.

Actually, I'm going to phone up some teenagers to help with my Halloween displays this year. I plan on putting them to work.

So... more Soulshadows.... I'm going to try and get to some reads.

Sandra

I would say purposefully being ignored is being paranoid.  What I would say is that they aren't feature and they aren't short shorts and there aren't many in-between readers.  Perhaps next time we do a series we should make it one pagers.

No, I'm not paranoid, and since I haven't written my Soul Shadows script, paranoid defintely dosen't apply.  I think it's off though for sure, especially since most of the Soul Shadows writers are very frequent SS contributors and just based on that alone, should garner many more reads from other frequent contributors.

Now, Sandra, I'm not sure what to make of your comments, so I won't say anything...cause I'm just such a nice guy, and it's so hard for me to be mean or harsh.

You are a nice guy, but I feel the need to give you a hard time, like you give others,  because you're missing something and only you know what that is. I wish I knew what it was. 'cause then I'd tell you and we'd both be enlightened, my dear. But let me go on record to say, "That I don't get bad vibes from you at all." Go figure, eh?"

Yes, no one (Yes-no-one sounds funny ) is purposely trying to ignore anyone. Some of us are just trying to work hard at the craft and we need to learn to juggle our lives.

For myself, I know instinctively that I can't work alone. Writing is solitary, but I need to work with people. I need to work outside in the community, and I need to work here virtually with people that I consider as family.

When I bring that statement out into the world, some people look at me, and they know I'm serious and they want to know how that could be. I try and explain, but the best way is for me to help them get connected to people around the world in "whatever endeavor" they feel so inclined towards.

IMO, Simplyscripts is destined towards greatness that we can't even fathom right now. We've got minds on here that just... just are so unbelievably awesome that I can't even get over it now.

Perhaps our next line of thinking should be to create a "system" of merit, whereby individuals who participate in "such and such" an event, are recognized.

We all love recognition. It's our Ego. Let's use our ego to rise above itself and do something good in the world for "Everyoneelse".

I know it is nice to get reads for your work, but I also know that the real satisfaction is in having written it in the first place.

Having said that, I was so unhappy when one of my scripts seemed to be getting ignored that I begged for feedback in the "please read my script" thread!

In the case of Soul Shadows - It didn't really register with me until Pia pointed me in it's direction. I only rarely venture outside of the shorts thread!

I really out to have read more of them than I have - but I really ought to have read more of the OWC ones too (of the three selectees I only read one, much to my embarrassment!).

But there are only so many hours in the day. To read and (properly) comment on short scripts can take me over 2 hours. And I have been asked to do private reads  including a feature.

I would like to read more - but I have to go to work, have food, sleep - and, of course, write!

I would say that some seem to do more than others - I am very grateful to people like Jeff and Pia, and Rendezvous, and others, who have taken the time and trouble to read and comment (sometimes in detail) on my work. These are names that I see on lots of threads and their commitment to SS is what makes this place so great a community.

In other cases there seem to be some on SS with a tendency to respond solely to comments on their own scripts (and not always then!), and not read anyone else's, which I think is a bit unfair.

I try to read work by those who have taken the time to read mine, if they have stuff up, but still have a number I need to get round to. The list is a long one!

If anyone wants me to read a particular script, I am always open to being PM'd to jog me along.

When you see conspiracies and there aren't any - that's paranoia - it doesn't have to deal specifically with you.

Niles,

We aren't planning a Series Three yet.   But keep an eye out and you may see a post about it eventually.

There are often spurts of series writing going on here - you just came about at a very busy time - with back to back OWCs - which is probably why you haven't seen one of them pass by.

While you're waiting, if you'd like to get some extra collaborative writing practice in you are welcome to join us in Thief - we're down a player.

Michael, I never brought anything up about a cospiracy.  I merely said it's almost as if they're being purposely ignored.  That does not make a conspiracy.  It may actually have to do with the fact that Soul Shadows could be viewed as some sort of inner circle, and those that are not in, don't bother reading or reviewing the scripts.

I don't know, but I don't feel paranoid at the time being, and I've even chosen to leave my Ouzi in the house when I venture out.

That's why I don't post any of my features. This site may be great in every way but the fact that shorts are the bread and butter and features are tossed to the side is how it works.

This was pretty much proven when Don shut down "Shorts" and people either disappeared or asked why the board was shut down. It didn't help.

Soulshadows was doomed from the start because it is a series. As someone who has been involved with many series I told the right people this would happen before we began.

It should be noted that the episodes get plenty of listens, though.
