Hey everyone, after reading the Babz Buzz thread and some comments and opinions on FB, there seem to be some interest in doing Babz' much recommended table reads on Skype. This is hopefully going to be a thread that will connect all of us who are interested in this. Whether you have a script you want to have "table read" or just want to participate by reading. I think all of us will benefit from this so let's all sign up as readers and ask for reads on our own scripts! Since Babz asked for a 10 page comedy and Mike Shelton voiced his interest on FB since he mainly writes comedy, perhaps one of his would be a good one to start with. Any thoughts or suggestions? Let us know if you want to read or want your script to be read. I think this is invaluable to all of us. Let's use the technology available to help each other. |

Pia, just to clarify...Babz is not looking for a ten page comedy. She's looking for the first ten pages of a feature comedy script.
PS - I'll volunteer as a reader if needed. |

Yes! The first ten of a feature. No shorts. She insists on those ten pages having been table read, hence this thread. This is a huge opportunity for all of us! |

I don't have anything appropriate to be read, but I'm willing to lend a voice.

If any of you write a script that features a British character, let me know...I'll be willing to help.
Trouble is, for me it would be at about 2:00 in the morning! |

I'd definitely like to read.
If we're gonna do a table read it seems like we might as well read more than ten pages -- the whole first act, anyway, if not the whole script.
When and how would this take place (I have Skype but I've never done any sort of group chat thing, which I assume is how this works)? |

You were on the call when we talked about it last week. I don't know how much more in the loop you want to be. |

I'm out for tonight. Going out for sushi, and then a whale watching tour early tomorrow morning.
I better not get too looped tonight! |

Hi everyone, so Mike, you did the rewrite? That was fast!!! I'm multitasking, but I'm here; so just holler if you are going ahead with it tonight.

I guess I was supposed to organize these... That's what happens Friday nights! I guess we'll be doing Shelton's revised script next Friday. Not sure about the time yet, since we're doing a podcast with Drew Daywalt from Fewdio at 10pm est. Also, don't forget that we can read anyone's script so if you're interested in having one of yours read, just let me know and we'll set it up. Brian, if you read this, I think your Publicity Whore is something you should send to Babz. |

I've been busy and just caught up with the latest podcast. Interesting stuff from Babz. I'm preparing for a rewrite on Publicity Whore based on all the great feedback I've had so far so I'm not sure it would be worth sending. There are some major things that need fixed. I'm not sure it would fall under PG-13 either so I don't really want to waste her time. I would lend a voice for the table reads but I have a pretty strong accent, so I don't think I would be much use. I read in the newspapers that Americans could not understand Ally McCoist during the ESPN World Cup coverage so I've got no chance! Still, I hope you all learn a lot from them. Babz seems pretty confident that table reads are the way to go. |
