I went with the crossbow with a two bladed bolt that cuts like a scissor (I lloked up the spelling). Clean fast decapitation. Also went with a modified two barreled shotgun type thing that works as a flamethrower and a shotgun with large cartridges filled with napalm. Didn't know it was that easy to make.
I swear one day, Homeland security will come and pay me a visit for all the weird stuff I search for...hmmm, maybe that's why I haven't got my new greencard yet?
Silly question, but, how does the bladed bolt cut, as the fletches on the shaft impart spin? Or maybe I'm being too pedantic
Good question! I have to think about that. I like the crossbow though and I hear studios like them and bow and arrow type weapons too. I have to figure out a way to solve that issue. Thank you for pointing that out.

You're welcome. Occupational hazard. My solution would be to have the the blades flush fitted and dove tailed into the shaft, with the ability to slide, then deploy on impact.
I know you said you have what you need, but couldn't help throw this at you. Silane - SiH4is a colorless gas with a repulsive odor at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. It is stable indefinitely in metal containers. Silane in the pure state is spontaneously combustible in air. Silane offers a source for high purity silicon in epitaxial and thin film deposits, and for the formation of high purity silicon oxides.
The part in bold is what I want you to look at. You could have some metal ball with this gas in it. As soon as it hits the vamp, it opens and spontaneously combusts! I work around this crap in my real job and all it has to do is escape into the air and then BAM - Instant fire!!!

I was immediately sold when I saw the two key words: instant fire. Kind of reminds me of George Carlin's segment on flamethrowers.
"It means, that at some point, some person said to himself, 'Gee, I sure would like to set those people on fire over there... but I'm way too far away to get the job done. If only I had something that would throw flame on them.'"
Love Carlin. Yeah, silane would get it done. I know a bunch of stories about some idiot not properly handling it, and then the person telling the story says something like, "the next thing you know, the silane caught the whole room on fire!"

Eoin, I checked with a mechanical and aerospace engineer, soon to get his PhD and he told me that you can definitely have crossbow bolts that do not spin. I appreciate you bringing it up though, because it did make me have to find out for sure.
That's cool. He's right about bolts and arrows that don't spin. A friend of mine who shoots a recurve bow competitively says that some archers can hit the target without the fletches on the arrow, which is impressive. I shoot myself, but not in a competitive manner.
The problem I forsee with a blade on the ferrule and a non spin design, is that the blades will act like a wing and cause the bolt to travel in an unpredicatable manner, or curved trajectory. But, if your PhD friend is confident that it can be done, I won't argue!
Might want to check these out, similar to what I had in mind.

Question about this Silane stuff. It is a gas and when it comes into contact with air it burns. How long does it burn? And would it set a person on fire or just burn until the gas is gone? Sorry, if I'm being stupid. The reason I liked napalm is that it sticks to you and the only way to get it off is for it to burn.
Silane does burn as long as the gas or by-product that contains it is gone. In a powder form, packed into a steel ball that would come apart, would do some serious damage. There have been many fatal incidents with this stuff!
