Or something like that.
I just thought since the Shiva game is done, and the board is foundering out into its slower life again, that we might do some reading. I'd really like to have a look at one of our locals again to see who might need some help on their already perfect and polished script so we could tear it apart.
Anyone who is game for participating and of course, any suggestions?
Considering what we learned from a produced one, we should consider one that feels really marketable... |

I'm up for that.
Shelton and I co-wrote something. Maybe that's something we could use? I guess I would have to ask him first though... Or someone else's would be fine too.
IMHO it would be best to use a script by someone who participates in the SC. |

A co-write between Pia and Shelton? That's like...funny and disturbing.
I'm in total agreement that it should be a participant. |

Hopefully I'll have time to be involved in this one. I've kind of missed the last couple. If Shelton's good with it, I say we go ahead and use it so we don't spend the next week arguing over it. |

I don't mind if the script is used. It just needs to be finished first.
I will also point out that it's not a comedy. |

I’ll try to participate. I’d like to. I can’t make any promises but I think Script Club is one of the best, most useful, projects ever to be initiated at this site.

I'll participate too. However, I would like to go back to the old format where we don't wait to start the thread until everyone has read the script. The discussion seems to last longer that way because people come in fresh as the discussion goes on. It find the "and they're off" version to be a bit less interesting and too fast and too furious. My two cents about it. |

I think what Mr Cornetto said has some value though I hope we still continue to lock the writer out until a certain date so we can slag him/her/them off properly.
What I do think would be a good idea however would be to allow the writer to have the first post before they are banished. I would really like to see the writer introduce their script to us and tell us a little something about what were they hoping to achieve with it. What audience they wrote it for, what budget etc... etc.. Give us something we can actually measure the script against. While it may seem to be a little self-indulgent I think it would certainly help.
I would even suggest they also end the first post with a 30 second pitch and part of the script club could actually be helping them to refine the pitch and logline.

Quoted from mcornetto However, I would like to go back to the old format where we don't wait to start the thread until everyone has read the script. So you're more for a free for all on any topic at any time once someone is done reading, or just letting the discussion begin when the script is announced? I know with a book club, people who are together locally spend an evening discussing what they read, and the circle moves fast and furious. How would we duplicate this sort of idea in a forum setting? Everyone has to have a chance to read the script, but I can see the value is being able to comment freshly after reading it. I am certainly open to more detailed suggestions on this. That sort of format doesn't lend itself to topical discussion, but over the last two scripts, I noticed the topical discussions got more and more clouded until we hit the end where no one was commenting any more because the topics had bled together early on in several posts. We can try the free-for-all and see what happens, if that's what you're referring to. The discussion is leaning towards this Pia-Shelton script, but Mike said it isn't fully done yet, which sort of leans it towards a "not this time." Is there anything else out there (I mean, besides my dozen, but that would be conceited of me)? |

For a better timetable of what Pia and are doing, we plan to have the first rough draft, and a subsequent run through done this weekend.
Not sure how quickly everyone is looking to start on this. |
