Ugh, I'm getting crushed on this one. I've already sent congratulations to my competitor as there's no way for a hail Mary comeback for me. .
Ha ha I've done the same! My competitor and I were neck-and-neck for the longest time and now he's in the lead. Sent my congrats, even though it was early, but looks like I'm gonna be out
I do feel for those that had to write out of genre if they don't make it through. Not only do you not make it through but the whole thing has been a waste of time as the story is likely shite.
I'm thankful that with mine I went my own way and have a short - with an increase in page count - worthy of production.
I feel bad mine's going through when there's some really good scripts that might not. But that's just the nature of this type of tournament.
I'm gonna get crushed next round if I don't step my game up. Can't wait to see what new torture Sean has devised for round two. I'm thinking he adds another parameter.
Another thought (for future rounds/tournies) in terms of tie breakers.
Maybe we
1) vote for each script 2) Give points on a 1-5 scale for the overall quality of each script
Should there be a tie, use the total points from #2 as the tie breaker
Just spit-balling as I do think the further this thing moves along the greater chance for ties
Do you mean to make this obligatory? Because it's very hard for me to quantify my connection to the story. I liked how some of the reviewers give ratings to scripts - I especially liked Alex's - he has a number for a story, character and writing. But I put different weight on those. And sometimes I think that the writing equals 0. I wouldn't want to say that outloud though because it goes for new writers mostly.

Yes - obligatory and anonymous.
Right next to where you pick script - assign it a value - example - 1 for good, 2 for great, 3 for outstanding.
Then assume that two scripts tie. As a tie breaker use the total points a script got.
e.g., Tom script = 10 votes Mary Script = 10 votes
Everyone who voted for Tom gave his script a value of 4. Everyone who voted for Mary gave her a 5. Tom's value rankings = 40, Mary's = 50. Mary moves on to next round.
