How long does a short film have to be? Does a 20/30 minutes long film count as a short? I am currently writing a "short" film entitled "Bride of Dracula" which takes place partly in a Village and then 75% in Dracula's castle. So... is a 25/30 minute long film a short or a feature?

Most competitions would consider that a short.  YMMV.

Okay, a short it is then.

I know this is off topic, but I don't plan to put this up for any competition. I don't really trust those.

Moviebytes.com as a listing of script competitions that have been critiqued by those who entered them.  It's a good way to learn how good a comp is.

Well, I'm not a "competition" kind of person, anyway. That's not the way I want my scripts to have a chance to be filmed.
I'd much rather find a producer on my own or something like that, rather than being one of more than a 1000 people with scripts in a competition.

Never really been into competitions, as they often tend to break my spirit (as silly as it sounds)... and I don't like them in general.

You can get the attention of producers when you win competitions... or even place in them.  If a producer receives 100 unsolicited scripts in a week, and one of them won a competition, which one do you think he'll read first?

These contests seem intimidating but a great way to get your foot in the door if yah got talent.
