The Chase One of the intents of the OWC is to see if you can produce a work on short notice, last minute. In keeping with that, here is the Quickie Challenge - 6 pages max properly formatted
Theme : The chase. Open genre. Minimal dialog. Emphasis on visual story-telling.
Scripts due to
SimplyScripts.com/OWC Midnight August 30th (11:59 PM EST on August 30th - see also timer)
This isn't a contest - it's a challenge. There are no official prizes. You can revise your script as many times as you wish up until the deadline. Do not include your real name(s) in your script; this is an anonymous challenge. However, please include your real name(s) when submitting your script. After the challenge closes you can either have your script removed or resubmit your script with your name on it. Participants must read, comment on, and review at least ten other scripts submitted on the discussion board, or their work will be removed (no harm, no foul). I understand that life gets in the way. Please put ©2024 on your title page. If you have any questions about the challenge, post them here. A review page will be emailed to you so you can score the scripts you read. Please only score scripts that you have read. Please do not rate scripts in your review. Good luck with your work,
-Don

An early one, back by popular demand. Thanks, Don.
P.S. You can all blame the new guy, who I might add, better have an entry. Challenge issued!

Ahoy Don,
Ugh, dumb question, but... um, does it has to involve some sort of chase, right? No?

You could always go for a metaphorical chase.
I'm going to guess Zack's entry will feature two nubile young women, a machete welding maniac, and the setting will be in the woods.

Um, that sounds like a great idea -- we just might have to steal this one.

I'm going to guess Zack's entry will feature two
nubile capable, healthy young women, a machete welding maniac, and the setting will be in the woods.
and, yes. Metaphorical chase will be allowed.

WHAT?! I just this second completed an 8-page short titled 'Smoke'.
This is a reworking of something I began last night but gave up on because I was too tired to complete it.
Wanna know what it's original title was?
'Chase'.
So, wonderful... now I gotta start all over again, and as usual it's all Don's fault.
...
Question: by "real name(s)" do you mean our member name?
Asking for a friend. His name is Drongo Bum.
Yeah, the friend is me.

Do not, under any circumstances put Drongo Bum on your title page for this challenge. We will know who you are and we will come for you. You may choose any nom de plume for your script - example: Mor Ironic, Noah Lott or Paige Turner.
Your real name goes on your entry form.

In that case, I'm out.

There really is nobody else quite as vocal as you have been, to blame. If it makes you feel any better I suppose we could blame Don...

Gonna eat my dinner then write a new short, titled 'Chase'.
Or maybe some other title. I don't know.
But I'll upload it as a normal script submission and you can consider it my out-of-contest entry, although by the time Don sleeps off his latest bender and finally leaves the hammock long enough to post my short it'll likely be in time for OWC 4Q '26.
