Challenge: Write a 2-6 page script that takes place in/around an old house, with 2 to five actors.  Low budget.

Action has to take place in and around an old house. The house is going to be torn down, so you can do anything to it.  Maximum of five actors is a suggestion, you can have more if needed, just you can't have a crowd scene. Actors would supply their own costumes. No specialized props beyond what you could reasonably pick up on the way to a shoot.

Siege by anonymous - Two bank robbers are holed up in a moonshiner's cabin...or are they?  Short, Crime

The Gift by Tristan Rêveur - A teenage girl attempts to get rid of her stalker.  Short, Horror

Ho Bag by Rider X - A scorned country wife performs her own DIY divorce after being cheated on.  Short, Horror

The House That Never Was by Dreamland - The kindness of a stranger and the shelter of his weathered house save a young woman from impending peril.  Short, Drama

This Old House by Imposter Syndrome Sufferer - Things escalate when an unhinged man is left alone in an old house with the memories it holds.  Short, Drama, Tragedy

Sunrise by Caned And Unable - A reclusive widow living in the Scottish Highlands decides to make the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good.  Short, Horror, Thriller

The Briefing by Buscopan - Two men meet in an abandoned house, one assigns the other a weighty task.  Short, Drama

Calling Millie by Edgar Allan Poe - Three teenagers attempt to summon a long-dead child murderer for a social media video, but what they get instead will surely make the video go viral.  Short, Drama

House Divided by Bob V. Lah - A couple deals with the fallout from a long-held disagreement.  Short, Drama

“Fix It?” Or, “Torch It!" by The Renovator - When a new Home Renovation TV Show asks viewers if the owners of a rundown old shack should renovate it, or obliterate it, the answers could get a little fiery!  Short, Comedy, Horror

Doctor Kay's House by Toll's Toy - A group of teenage boys say goodbye to an abandoned cottage they used to play in as children.  Short, Comedy

Simple Little Home by Tis a Gift - A dying old man visits his home before it gets demolished, but he has a plan.  Short, Drama

The House That Whispers by Reverend Henry Dawson Ellis Bull - In a desolate neighborhood, two young boys confront the eerie secrets of an infamous haunted house.  Short, Horror

Bad Intentions by Mr. Rothman - A trio of delinquents get more than they bargained for when they decide to check out a local urban legend.  Short, Horror, Slasher

Sugar Bomb by Mucilaginous Agglutinant - Three kids start their summer off with a bang!  Short, Comedy

Bear Trap by Dan Haggerty - The former members of a rock band meet in the house where they recorded a hit album.  Short, Drama

Really good turnout!

I just reread my entry and…. Oh boy I’m in for a turbulent week

Probably won’t get around to reading until Wednesday but can’t wait to get stuck in.

About halfway done reading. These are some great entries. Very entertaining, every one I've read so far. I hope the pattern continues.

Great job thus far everyone.

A great OWC. Um, can't remember the last time we had a turn-out this big, which is always good thing. I'll admit I'm finding things a bit more challenging this go around. Fun, fun, fun...almost done.-A

Methinks the last one, or the one before it was 16.

As I'm reading through the scripts, for the theme, was the house supposed to be torn down? Or mentioned that it would be torn down?

I see some scripts followed that rule of the theme, and other scripts did not.

I don’t think so.

In the hypothetical of the challenge, the house will be torn down after “shooting” the movie, so the filmmakers can do what they like to it. Doesn’t mean they have to damage it in any way… but it’s an option.

I think as long as you mention or show that the house is going to be torn down at some point in time then it would meet that requirement.

No, because it’s not a requirement.

I'm with Matt, I read it that you can do whatever you like to the location as the owners will tear it down AFTER filming of the hypothetical short film. So you could blow it up or leave it standing... I just saw it as the house should be in some way integral to the plot.

Yep...for production purposes, you can do anything you want to the house, all the way up to tearing it down. But, you don't have to in your script.

So...not a requirement, but it is an option.

That's the way I read it, anyway.

Good turnout! Which means lots to read, lol.  My neck of the woods has had some unusually above season temps over the last few days, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to pressure wash the winter grime off the garage floor and break up some ice here and there. Very satisfying, err… pressure washing that is.

Then my wife is hosting a Baby Shower for her niece next Saturday and has me creating all kinds of decorations and such this week, so I’m literally squeezing in reads and comments as time permits. But I should be able to get to them all today and tomorrow… or the day after… or after that…

Yep, I don't think we disqualify any entries if the house is not torn down.
I'm guilty of saying in some feedback that the house doesn't play a pivotal role and is just a backdrop...

But then I read this again and it basically is just a backdrop.

Action has to take place in and around an old house. The house is going to be torn down, so you can do anything to it.

Doesn't mean you have to (burn it down).

I think playing fast and loose with these guidelines is fine.
It's more about low budget.

There aren't any entries set on a bus so we're all good.
