I'm really saddened by the distateful behaviour by some posters. Absolutely no class...
Quoted from Andy Petrou
What really pis*es me off are the cruel and inappropriate comments about MJ. What gets to me even more is that people can't even wait for any amount of time before posting/speaking them either. Have people no respect?
Like Julio, I'm not one bit saddened by his death. I do feel bad for his friends and family though and losing a parent or a child is always awful.
I have nohing against Michael Jackson The Entertainer but that specific genre of music just never appealed to me. I'm sure fans loved his singing and dancing but it never did anything for me. So, alive or dead, I frankly couldn't care less about him.
BUT
I do have major issues with Michael Jackson The Pedophile. No, he wasn't convicted but based on the testimonies, interviews, reports, behaviour etc., I have no doubt that he did it. Like OJ, he dodge a bullet and the while the fans are willing to look through fingers with that, I'm not.
If that makes me "classless" in some people's minds, well, so be it. I'll wear that badge with honor.

Just to play devil's advocate, I think what's being taken issue with here is not just the comments being made against Jacko, but the timing of the comments also. Why even say these things at all? Why not wait a few weeks until the shock of losing him has worn off and people are more objective? It's not like in a week's time he's going to have not molested those children.
He dies, this thread is started to honor him and you come on here saying you don't like his music, judge his private affairs and say you don't give a shit whether he's dead or alive. You're a smart guy, you must've known you'd piss a few people off (and not just you by the way) so are you trying to cause trouble, my friend? Or are you trying to make a legitimate point? And if so, what is your point other than to tarnish the memory of a well-respected and phenomenally popular singer?
Keeping in mind that I'm not attacking, just trying to get your take on things. If anything, I'm on your side.
He did a lot for a lot of people. I am simply saying that if you disliked or just didn't care about the person before why all of a sudden care? Does that make more sense?
If I started a post and said Japanese Wrestling Legend Mitsuharu Misawa is dead, nobody would reply because you don't know who he is and don't care. Even if I said he died in the ring and was only 47. (That's true by the way)
Oh. I get ya.
On the Misawa death, I don't know anything about him but a DJ I listen to on a local independent radio station was talking about him dying last week and couldn't have spoken more highly of him. He basically said that Misawa elevated pro-wrestling to an art form. The DJ is a guy called Leaping Larry. He has his own blog where he reviews movies and other bits and pieces. He has quite a few extensive reviews on wrestling DVDs. Here's the link:
I'm not trying to pick a fight either, and if this is a tribute thread to MJ (sorry, I just didn't see it as such) then I'll gladly delete my comments.
It's just when I see people saying stuff like "God bless you, Michael" and what not, I get a really sour taste in my mouth considering the very strange bed fellows he chose for himself (and I mean that literally). Yes, he was the "King of Pop" but let's not forget what he also was - and the fans, imo. seem to have very selective memory of MJ (and I don't get that at all). So I'm not trying to tarnish MJ memory, he took care of that himself.
As for the timing? I don't see how two weeks are gonna change anything.

Yeah, that is a good way to put it, to Sniper and a few others.
Nobody is really arguing with you guys, but some people will be genuinely sad about this -- despite the other details -- and this thread is pretty much for them to gather and chat.
Not trying to stifle you other guys so much as to ask that you please stop throwing stink bombs that will turn the thread into an argumentative piss-fest.
The fact is he was proven not guilty. Your inconsequential and rambling musings questioning this innocence is by the by. It's inappropriate, and you know it.
You are not an expert on the case, and you bought into the media demonising. If you are an expert, and this:

frankly ridiculous statement carried any credibility, then please enlighten.
Just because you are so sure Michael Jackson is a paedophile, it doesn't mean he is. I certainly don't think he is, so it's not just that you are wildly immature with your unnecessary posting, but you are - IMO - flat-out wrong, too.
I think this is the kind of thing that Bert was talking about when he mentioned avoiding an argumentative piss-fest.
The important thing to remember here is that a MJ is dead. And drug addict or not, child molester or not, the man made music that touched millions of people around the world and he will be missed.

If he was found not guilty, who are you to determine that he was? There are people who enjoy raging on, demeaning, and hating other people, especially those the media(like 'perez hilton') decide we should hate. How would you like to find yourself at the other end of such vitriol? Control yourself.
And drug addict or not, child molester or not, the man made music that touched millions of people around the world and he will be missed.
Simple as that.
Ha! Probably could have been better worded!
I don't buy the molestation charges for a minute. There were hundreds, if not thousands of kids who hung out with him and only three ever accused him. Doesn't sound credible in the least.
Off The Wall and Thriller are probably both in the Top 50 albums ever made.
My favorite Michael Jackson moment. I was at the bar on night when Rock With Me came on. As I scanned the bar, every single person was moving something. And I caught thios guys eye who must have been doing the same thing, because he just grinned at me and said, "The guy may have been a freak, but when he was good, he rocked."
I like his theory about MJ becoming a prisoner of his own success. The Way You Make Me Feel is the only song he did after Thriller that was good enough to have been included on Thriller.
Like a lot of folks, feel like a good part of my childhood passed away yesterday, first with the brave, strong and ever so beautiful Farrah Fawcett. What boy growing up in the seventies didn't have her poster on the bedroom wall?
Follow that up with the passing of Michael Jackson, the King of Pop and I feel quite a bit older today.
He seemed to be trapped in a character and a persona that was way bigger than the man. Regardless of his eccentricities and questionable behaviors, there is no denying the musical legend based on the sheer impact, he, as an entertainer, had on the world.
Like Elvis, sad to have lost him at this point, as he was finally getting ready to go back on tour and start preforming again. Who knows what he would have accomplished given the incredible talent.
No, he probably couldn't hit those high notes anymore, and there was likely some rust on the moonwalk but it would have been interesting to see what would have come up with.
I also heard that the Beatles catalogue will revert back to Paul McCartney, which seems right to me in a karmic sense.

This is sad, but no more so than Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, or David Carradine, or anyone else who dies. It is sad for the people who loved them, no matter what anyone else thinks of them.
As far as defending Michael Jackson over the alleged pedophile thing; I doubt folks would be so quick to defend if it was just the guy up the street from them and their children. It'd be a whole different ball of wax, and you would be leery about having your kids so close to the guy, no matter what the final verdict.
