Well, Kev, I think there are 2 schools of thought relating to slang/accents/etc. in dialogue, and both are adamant about their thoughts.
Either use it or don't use it.
Used poorly or incorrectly, it will sound stupid.
Not used at all, it will sound unrealistic.
I say always include whatever regional things need to be there, as I strive for reality and detail. I research whatever it is, including dialect (but to be honest, I've traveled all over the country to the point, where I have a decent understanding already, and I'm familiar with enough movies where I can make a call in that it either sounds good or it sounds bad, and from there, I can fashion my own.
But I'm also a believer in write what you know and stay away from what you don't. I wouldn't attempt to write modern British characters, cause I really don't know how they speak or certain slangs they use.
I don't think it's all that quiet, but maybe it is for features. Shorts seem to be popping up (and getting read) quite frequently, but I don't see a lot of features being exchanged (from regular members). I feel like most of the time it's from people who never visit the site.
It seems like a couple years ago (maybe even just a year) everyone was trying to push a feature they had written.
I got one coming Matthew. I actually sent it to Don then withdrew it before it posted. But I'm gonna send soon. If no one likes it, well, then that's the way it is. At least I'll hopefully get something useful out of it.

Look forward to reading it. I was going to check out your other script on here, but it looks like you didn't really want people reading that one.
Tap? Actually, I just sent Don a rewrite today. When it posts, I'd be thrilled to have you glance at it. That was my first script ever posted. I've learned a lot since then, so I managed to get rid of most of the format errors in the rewrite. The rewrite has flaws still, no doubt, but it's light years better. I'll let you know when it's up.
Lol. I thought 'Scottish Lullaby' was the only thing you had posted on SS, or I would've read 'Tap' already. I'm going to download it to my laptop now, so I'll be able to go back and read both versions when the new one gets posted.
I had suggested to Screen that instead of quoting from the bible in posts, if he wants to influence people with an idea, why not try scripts. And then for a couple weeks he tried that, sent in a bunch of shorts with something related to his message. Then he disappeared. Hopefully he's just working on something.
I'm not religious myself, but I respect a good story. The ones he sent were a little over the top IMO, but some people liked them. He's probably going to come back with a vengeance!
Wo...damn, Rob. That's what Stevie and I would call a cheat, or an illegal misquote. Those words and/or letters were not available in my quote to alter like that.
Pretty brutally graphic as well. I doubt this will remain for long and I don't think it should, either.
