So far, this has been brought to my attention four times, publicly and privately. I have been told (and, in two other cases, it's been insinuated) that the 48 hour period to write the scripts is too short and restrictive. Some have said that having the entire week to write/conjure up an idea would work better for them. I have no problem with this whatsoever. I can run this like five concurrent OWCs, if that's what everyone wants. Not a problem. Please put down your votes for whichever you prefer. A simple majority will win. Thank you.

I will be locking this at 11:59PM tomorrow night EDT.

Although I'll be on the road and driving for a vast majority of the first weekend... and unlikely to produce anything of quality...

I still vote for 48 hours. It's hard, and that's the point for me.

Could always check-in at midnight on Saturday and find out...

The reason for this poll was lack of availability on the part of certain writers. None specifically noted the challenge of 48 hours as the problem. Just the specific timeframe.

You could add a day. This way if someone is busy on the weekend they can think about their story and write it Monday.

48 hours is perfect, if it included a weekday I would be in. But I reserve my weekends to spending time with my son and hacking away at the various household DIY jobs I’ve started

Yes, Sunday/Monday would be ideal. Many people have either a weekend, or weekdays, but not both. Interesting compromise.

But then we have the non US countries that will push that into two week days with the time difference. It's going to be impossible to cover all bases.

That being said, I’m not opposed to writing during the week, but other internationals might be.

I like the 48 hour challenge, but there simply aren’t any two days that would work for me this first round. Entirely my fault for not checking with Sean before scheduling my son’s birthday

Feature-length scripts:
Who Wants to Be a Princess? (Family)
Glass House (Horror anthology)

TV pilots:
"Kord" (Fantasy)
"Mal Suerte" (Superhero)

Additional scripts are listed here.

That was very selfish of you, Frank. Then again, I didn't even check with myself before scheduling a round to begin on my birthday. Lol.

Wow, I thought it would be all votes for a week challenge but what do you know.
Voted for 48 myself.

However, this Saturday and Sunday are crazy busy for me. I don't know what I'm going to do. Good to know that you don't get killed if you end up not writing.

A week for each script would turn this challenge into a marathon. I don't have a problem writing scripts in 48 hours, it's the reading afterwards that is the biggest time commitment. Then there's the collection and collation of votes.

Perhaps, just in case it wasn't clear, I should clarify. The length of the contest would remain unchanged. Week 1 would be writing a script. Week 2 would be writing week 2's script and reviewing week 1's scripts. 3, 4 and 5 follow the same pattern as week 2. As I had stated, it would be the equivalent of 5 concurrent OWCs, not 5 consecutive OWCs. Just making sure the information is clear.

72 hours would be ideal, as it wold include both weekend and weekday.

Weekdays are MUCH easier for me to write on.

Sean, I see that for many its easier to write on weekdays. Maybe you could ask that as well?

72 hours is seeming like by far the best fit. I'm ok either way, but 72 lets those with busy weekends finish things on Mon. I have a 48 hr prose thing coming up, if it ran into the same weekend it would be nice to have Mon.

72 hours would level the playing field a bit for all the different time zones too.

I'd be for 72 hours as well. And with the inclusion of a weekday. Even two.

The timezones are the problem.

I concur that 72 hours fixes most of the fairness issues while keeping the pace quick.

Still going to be tough for me in week 1, but still going to try. I missed the last couple OWCs and want to get back into building up a stable of short scripts.

Who Wants to Be a Princess? (Family)
Glass House (Horror anthology)

TV pilots:
"Kord" (Fantasy)

I think 72 hours would definitely be a good compromise, it sorts out the time zone issues but is still short enough to be a challenge. I think a week for 5 pages is too much.

72 hours would mean I could join in I could get the idea in my head over the weekend and actually write it on the Monday

So, am I to assume that people want 72 hours (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) to write? Any objections to that, at this point?
