Welcome to the 2025 Writers' Tournament! It's been far too long since we've had one of these. This will be a gauntlet of options. Three rounds, each with two genres to pick from (or combine), AND each with (at least!) two options which writers must choose from and incorporate into their stories. Each round will have a different page count. The tournament will consist of three rounds. Each round will last seven days. Three days to write and submit, three days to read and review. The scores will be tallied and revealed on the seventh day. Writers must commit to the tournament before the start of round one. No late entries. If you'd like to participate, let me know in this thread! Writers are to remain anonymous until the Tournament has ended. The first round will begin on February tenth. Challenge yourself and join up! Huge thanks to Don for letting me put this together. Zack, are contestants scoring scripts at the point of reviewing? Or after each round on a usual ballot paper?
I'm assuming the enthusiasm and the rest of the questions will follow when everyone wakes up. This is the problem with being in the Southern Hemisphere - the rest of you are snoozing, apart from a few night-owls. 🤣 |

Just doing the maths (English) or math (American) 🤪
feb 10th start feb12th - enter script feb 15th completed reviews feb16th results
i assume feb17th start feb 19th enter script feb 22nd end reviews feb 23rd results
and.. feb24th start feb 26th enter March 1st complete reviews march 2nd results
Intense. And different page counts…..ooooh
One suggestion would be to release the next challenge a little earlier as time zones could really dig into three days
Otherwise, im Just trying to get my head around the expectations - i hate letting folk down so would only enter if i am sure to complete
I am overseas one week and would write on my iPad and submit which is not the best.
Ok one to consider and ill come back |
| My scripts - links to be updated.

You mean apart from the adulation of your fellow writers, what else could you want? |

Me too. Currently working overseas but I'll make the time for this. Unless the Challenge is really lame, in which case it's all Zack's fault. |

Writers will include their scores with their reviews. I will tally the scores myself at the end of each round.

Nailed it. Hope you get in on this.
This is how we managed (some) different time zones in my Tourny. I think from memory it worked out. We would obviously adjust for other time zones depending on who's entering and from what part of the world.
|
Yes, we will adjust if/where we need to.

I can't imagine you'll score very well, but sure! Have at it!
Is this just another fun zone comp, or is there something to strive for> Just asking |
Do you know where you are? This is SimplyScripts. Yes, there's something HUGE to strive for. Bragging rights. |

I'm in! Even though I have little chance of making it very far, I'm still up for a challenge. |

I’m leaning toward sitting this out since I’ve never participated in one of these tournaments and don’t exactly know the time commitment involved. That said, I’m intrigued. How badly are you shamed if you agree to join then cannot complete all the required elements? I don’t want to be an outcast. |
| Scripts Available: Christmas Joe (Holiday Drama) Every Time It Snows (Holiday Drama) Happy Holi-DNA (Holiday Romance) Let That Pony Run (Family Drama) With Love, From Romance (Holiday Romance) Essex (Historical Drama)
Shorts: Santuario (OWC Writers' Choice) Seven Minutes But This Ain’t Heaven (OWC Writers’ Choice) Buona Fortuna Christmas At The Piggly Wiggly ...and many more. |
