Killer or Thief
There are two new screenwriting games/exercises starting on July 4th. Killer and Thief.
You may only play one of these two games.
Killer is a free-for-all game/exercise where there is only one survivor. This time in the peaceful resort community of Lake Simply, trouble is brewing. A killer is on the loose. One by one the residents of the town are dropping like flies from this unknown terror. Will you catch the killer or will you leave no one alive?
In this version of killer, there will only be one killer. The killer will be decided upon at the beginning of the game, but their identity will be kept secret. The killer will decide the death order of characters. You will be notified when you are about to write the death scene for your own character.
There are only 8 characters/players per game - if we get lots more than 8 then we will have a second game.
To play add a bio for your character to this thread and mention you want to play Killer
Thief is a structured game/exercise where drama and characters are key. A reunion is happening in Simply Valley. Eight high school friends have a sleep-over, big chill style. It's no secret that one of them plans to propose to another at the gathering. But plans are cancelled, tempers flare, and old fights are rekindled when the engagement ring turns up missing. The question now is who stole it and why?
This game will be structured. Character bios will be developed, then a brief outline will be created and the screenplay will be written from the outline. Developing the character and writing the outline are part of the game.
There are only 8 characters/players per game - if we get lots more than 8 then we will have a second game.

You're definitely on the list, you just need to come up with a character bio to back up your entry. Post your character in this thread. If you're curious what a character bio is like, have a look at the bios in this thread http://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-collaborate/m-1224841894/ And I guess I should mention, that the name of the character should be meaningful to you.
GABRIEL JACOBS. "Phenomenal acting" says Rolling Stones, " The master of action" says Roger and Ebert, "He swept me off of my feet", says Pia from One Week Reviews. Gabriel Jacobs is one of the best actors of the 20th century. If he's in your movie, it's a success. Having played in all genres, he is frequently cast in action, romance, and horror (which according to him is his favorite). Handsome, Built, Smart, Nice guy quality, and the list goes on, it's obvious that the ladies dig him. He's been caught having brunch with sexy actress Audrey, walking with supermodel Lisa, and clubbing with music star sensation Niki. Questioned about these girls, he says "they're just friends."
His road to fame was a hard one. Simply enough, he was ugly, obese, and dumb like a rock. He deemed himself a repellent of society. But though persistence and hard work, he overcame his obstacles. Now look at him. Ain't life just ironic.
Hope this follows the guidelines. I tried to base it on Shiva. I want to play Thief. Gabe
Just Murdered by Sean Elwood (Zombie Sean) and Gabriel Moronta (Mr. Ripley) - (Dark Comedy, Horror) All is fair in love and war. A hopeless romantic gay man resorts to bloodshed to win the coveted position of Bridesmaid. 99 pages. https://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-comedy/m-1624410571/
Last time we played Killer it ran for three weeks. Shiva, another game like this one ran for months. This particular game of Killer will probably run for about a month but there is literally no way of knowing how long the game will last. The only guarantee I can give you is that I will do my best to work your turns around your schedule. If you aren't around for a turn then we try to arrange for a guest writer to take the turn for you.
I should also mention here that the deadline for entering is Jun 26th.
Dennis Mark (late 40s), one of the comic dinosaurs, is too old to be fresh and too young to be legendary. Sometimes introduced as “the raunchiest man in comedy” his gigs are often one long diatribe of raunchiness. He hasn’t been funny since his last cable TV showcase (a watered down 30 minute special that was supposed to be a premiere event) ten years ago. But his name is still drawing hard-drinking hecklers and diehard fans into the small town clubs, so he has a job.
Dennis dreams of making it big again. He used to be a great joke writer and teller. But first, he needs that one night to get him started. He’s road weary and fears he won’t be in the game much longer. He doesn’t want to do gigs like The Smoking Gun Presents: The World’s Dumbest or security guard with Gary Coleman.
Dennis will do anything to get back to the big venues but for now he’s stuck in small dives.
Some more info, Michael? Does the character have to be a certain type, eg, rich, poor, that sort of thing? And also, any idea when the next OWC will be on? If it's later, I might have a crack at this Killer. I know Phil usually gives us that info but I thought, while this is up.... Cheers
