After a long, intense, but fun summer, I'll have Sunday to myself for the first time. I want to go and see a movie. Seems like no one is reviewing movies here anymore, but does anyone out there have any recommendations? Right now, I'm leaning towards Twisters, Longlegs, or Trap. I'm open to any other suggestions as well.

Twisters was a very entertaining thrill ride. I had a fun time watching it, and has a nostalgia for those who are fans of the original. If you're able to look past the cheesy romance part of the movie, you'll have a good time with it. Plus, the special effects were top-notch, not too flashy or in-your-face.

Been hearing good things about Longlegs, but haven't seen it yet.

Only saw the preview for Trap before Twisters, and that looks...interesting, to say the least. Because it's M. Night, I'll probably watch it with the same reason as I did with OLD, just to see what he comes up with next. However, I just feel like the entire movie was in the preview, so I can only imagine what the 'twist' is, if there is any.

Let us know what you decide on!

Sean

It was Winter School Holidays here - the kids just went back. We wait till that's done and dusted before we go back to the movies.

Prior to that we saw A Quiet Place: Day One. While I enjoyed it I didn't think it was a patch on the first two. Still enjoyable though, good performances, but surprisingly loud. .

MaXXXine or Long Legs? I haven't seen either but am contemplating one or the other next week.

Kins of Kindness - I am not a fan of Yorgos Lanthimos films so I'm in the minority there.

Fly me to the Moon - a bit of a dud apparently and would only be streaming for me.

I agree with Sean that the trailer for Trap shouldn't have given everything away.

Twisters looks as advertised - popcorn fun.

Sometimes it doesn't matter too much what's on though, (as long as it's decent enough) you just want the movie experience, to sit in the dark and escape through the big screen.

Knowing your predilection for Horror I'd go for Longlegs and you can let us know how you rate it. Just don't expect the calibre of Silence of the Lambs and you'll be fine.

P.S. I'm looking forward to the sequel to It Follows which is in pre-production - They Follow. Hoping it will be just as creepy.

I'm not into the superhero stuff, but I think Twisters sounds like the one I should give a go.

What happened to all our movie review people???

Well, I definitely like the sound of that too. Maybe I'll do both. I haven't seen a movie in a theater since last summer, I think.

You missed out on Furiousa! It was great. Maybe my best theater experience since Fury Road.

I ended up seeing Twisters. I enjoyed it. I'm glad they just tried to entertain us instead of making us think too hard. At first I thought it was going to be too similar to the original, but I thought they changed things up just enough. I went at 10 am because I figured I might be alone in the theater. I like it when I am. But there were quite a few people there and one service dog. Maybe that's a sign the film will do well.

I haven't stepped foot in a movie theater in four years, sadly. But I've been wanting to see:

Dune 2
Furiosa
Maxxine
Longlegs
Trap
A Quiet Place
Deadpool & Wolverine (I've only seen three films between these two franchises)
In a Violent Nature (I think was the title)
Late Night with the Devil
Civil War
Any A24 film.
Maybe Twisters. It was shot on film, and I liked the original.

I don't doubt you, but it doesn't seem like something I would spend money on to see. I would like to see Trap though, but I'm wondering if the trailer doesn't give the twist away.

OH man, so many good choices here. I remember doing movie buffet back when I was 18. You get inside and hop on / hop off for the price of 1. Please don't tell the officials)
I'm not doing it anymore, of course

So @Pia what did you end up seeing?

I want to go to see a movie and leaning towards Deadpool
