I went into this blind and I have to say I really enjoyed it. It's a satirical horror and well worth the 90 minute investment.

It's a play of left vs right, cancel culture and extreme PCness so it's bound to annoy someone and from the reviews I read after watching it, it clearly did.

Less of a review and more of a recommendation. Check it out.

I remember some people being outraged when this first was going to be released. I didn't get it, because I had read the script, so I knew it was not an anti "right" film as many of the outraged people claimed. It's satire for sure, but if anything, it's the elitist left that are the bad guys. I want to see the film, but I don't want to spend 20 bucks for just a rental. I'll wait until you can buy it.

This was the last film I saw in theaters before I was locked down. I went in with very high expectations, I really loved the trailer. Unfortunately, I really, really hated this movie. It was just 2 hours of being beat over the head with the point... over and over and over again -- and 75% of their jokes were recycled from episodes of South Park, which did it way, way better, at least in regards to PC/cancel culture.

SPOILER ALERT

And that final fight kinda sucked because we didn't see Hilary Swank for most of the film... then we do a flashback where we finally meet her. And then, the next scene is the fight. I dunno, not much of a build-up there for a good final showdown.

I was just really disappointed with this one. The premise was awesome but the execution sucked, the jokes about PC culture got old and repetitive pretty quickly and the kills were ho-hum to me. Just my opinion.

This isn't a left vs right film. Nor is it a satire on pc-culture. This film is a satire on outrage-culture. At least, that's what I took away from it. Fun flick. I enjoyed it.

Didn't do anything for me. Jokes were dull, protag was absurdly overpowered, and the attempts to "subvert expectations" -- especially the obnoxiously extended sequence that begins the hunt -- just grated on me.  Twenty-five freakin' minutes until the actual story starts.

Good cast, good concept, bad film.

Knew nothing about this going in. Literally had no idea there was controversy surrounding it and I've never heard of Huntgate.

Anytime there's social media "outrage" I try to get as far away as possible so my brain cells aren't subjected to the mewling nonsense on both sides.

The comedy was okay. Had a few good moments.

But the lead character is freakin' amazing! I loved everything about her. The mannerisms, the weirdness, the droll delivery. Every line is gold. That scene in the gas station with the stark contrast to the last group is so good. And her reaction when she peaks in the back room... priceless. Did I mention she's a complete badass?

I wish she had a slightly better movie around her, but I'll take it. She single-handedly carries the film on her back.

That rug really tied the room together.

I want to watch this, but it looks like my only option is to pay near $20 to rent it. No option to buy. So, I use Amazon and it says I have 30 days to watch it, but only 48hrs from the moment I start. It doesn't say anything about how many times I can watch it during those 48hrs. Anyone know?

Pia, I paid for The Invisible Man on Prime and I'm pretty sure you can play it as many times as you like within the 48hr period.

That said, you may have to use a different device to replay:

I only watched it once.

Thanks Libby! I guess I could have found it on my own, but you're a much better sleuth than me.    I just didn't want to spend the money and then I'd fall asleep and have to rent it again just to see the ending and I've read the script!

Yeah I know for iTunes at least you can watch as many times as you want in 48 hours.

The $20 thing is absurd, but I couldn't resist.

I also paid 20 to rent Trolls World Tour. And I don't have kids, I just watched it for genuine entertainment. Am I ashamed of that? No, no I am not. Okay maybe a little bit.

I haven't seen The Hunt cause having read the script I felt like I kinda had already. I might wait to see if the price drops a bit on that one.

On the other hand I was really looking forward to The Invisible Man and was going to happily pay for tickets, until Covid-19 wrecked its cinema release - so price justified imho if you don't want to wait for the DVD.

I wonder how long it'll be for A Quiet Place 2... At this stage they're planning on September, but who knows.

So, I made it to the 40 minute mark. I enjoyed the script, but this movie sucked. I don't remember the script being this over the top. It was a pretty good read with all sorts of characters being total assholes and extremists for sure, but it felt more even than this film where it was very heavy handed and ridiculous. There was humor in the script, but I didn't think of it as a comedy, but more like a thriller with some funny bits. The film is definitely trying to be a comedy, but it failed as such, IMO. Truest part was the self loathing white people.
