Steve, me too! Forest Gump - over sentimental shite.
But then I also roll my eyes at The English Patient.

Ditto Zack, toThe Blind Side.

What's going on here? Why all the Forrest Gump hate?

An example of my writing...

FOR SATAN - short, horror, 14 pgs (revised draft) - A group of thrill-seekers explore a creepy old house on Halloween night. Think you know this story? Think again.

If any of us had written Forest Gump can you imagine the feedback? Unrealistic!

I would have given it a glowing review!

In two minds on Forrest Gump. On the one hand, itís very entertaining, thereís some definite feeling there between him and Jenny. I wound up disliking her because she really should have went with him, and she made some really stupid mistakes. Not a very likable character at all.

But towards the end I felt the movie became almost a parody of itself. You name it, Gorrest was there when it happened. And recently, Iíve run into people saying it was offensive because of the way it portrayed developmentally disabled adults. Meaning, Look at all the crazy scenarios this unknowing slow adult stumbled into.

I always assumed that Forrest Jr wasn't really Forrest's son and that Jenny just lied to him because she knew A) Forrest would be a wonderful father B) Forrest is likely too dumb to question it.

That's ridiculous. I've always taken it as "anyone can do amazing things, no matter what deficiencies they have."

It's crazy what people find offensive these days.

She probably did just that because she was just so unlikable.

This part is actually good. I kept wondering if it was an eye or a cheek. So at least I used my brain there

Ah, yes. Love me a bit of dystopian Romantic Tragedy.

Speaking of futuristic romantic dramas,I wish I'd thought of Her before Spike did.
You should check that out Kham, if you haven't already.

Oh, and Promising Young Woman - the Oscar winning screenplay is excellent. Highly recommended.
And the movie is terrific, even with its grim ending.

Oh Iíve seen Her! Thanks for PYW, I so will! I love this type of movies.

Yeah, good movie. I also like Equilibrium and Time. And Edge of Tomorrow (Not Oblivion!). Neither compare to Never Let Me Go tho. I read the book, rewatched. Heavy stuff

Kham, PYW script is on the SS Blog page, get it while you can... Unless you want to watch the movie before reading.

P.S. Edge of Tomorrow - great fun movie.
Not sure if I've seen Equilibrium - looks like a good cast.
