RV,

Yes, I buy them too, though I've pretty much confined myself to buying jazz now.  I do need to correct an oversight and pick up Led Zep III at some point...

I also go to the library and check out tons of music there - you have it for 3 weeks and if you want to keep it you can save to windows media...

Baltis,

Where would you rank "By Numbers?"  I think it's a very much underrated Who album and I absolutely love the songs "However Much I Booze" and "How Many Friends".

That's easy.  The rotation has not changed for, like, 4 months -- but now I realize I don't know some of the titles haha.  I will have to go look later.

Pete Townsend, Empty Glass
Franz Ferdinand, forget the title
XTC, forget the title
Ting Tings, forget the title (but they just have one, right?)
Best of ELO
Best of Cure
Rush, 2112
Lou Reed, New York (very under-rated)
Beatles, Sgt. Pepper
Rod Stewart, Every Picture Tells a Story

Jars of Clay

I like that pick -- great album, except for the last 2~3 tracks, where it gets kind of weird.

I might have to dig that one out and put it into rotation.

Zebra (yes, Zebra) - debut

Tell me what you want!  I've got this on vinyl, if you can believe it.

Bert,

Love the choices of 2112 and Every Picture - have you ever heard Rod's first solo effort? Killer version of "Street Fighting Man" on it, as well as other really good cuts.

As for Zebra - I have "Tell Me What You Want" in GA, and let's just say I've been in touch with the publisher and performer and it looks good as far as use goes.

Anthony

I love these and keep them handy in my car...

Muddy Waters, Hard Again
John Coltrane, Early works
Head East, Flat as a pancake
Casting Crowns, Best of...
Tool, Tool
Black Sabbath, Neon Knights
Frank Zappa, Zoot Alures
Allan Parsons Project, Turn of a friendly card
Canned Heat, Boogie With Canned Heat
Rush, All the world's a stage

Bert, Loe Reed, New York is hands down one of my Favs of all time.  Just saw Rush again a few weeks ago in Austin. Better than ever and I have seen them many times, but man are they on their game.

I'm a huge Trane fan too, Led - "Crescent" is the best jazz CD I've ever heard next to "Kind of Blue"...

I don't own a single CD. I do have my iPod hooked up though. Pretty much only listen to audiobooks and podcasts. Somehow Bob Dylan seem to show in between though...

"Love Supreme" is great as well - don't know "Africa Brass", I'll have to check that out.

So I had forgotten that I ordered a Coltrane DVD and I found it unopened one day. Popped it in, and Trane is just playing, calm as can be, but wailing - and who walks out on stage and starts to duet with him? Stan Getz. Almost fell on the floor and genuflected.

Isaac Hayes' , Hot Buttered Soul
Billy Holiday, Strange Fruit
Percy Sledge,
Ottis Redding...

A fifth of 40 creek, a chess board, and a cool clean buzz...

Although I appreciate the authenticity and ownership that comes with a CD (and giving something back to a group or artist whose output you value) I can't say I buy the fraction of what I used to. Like internet porn, its just too easy nowadays to share the sh?t out of it with friends and get all your music for free.

I got an almost full 80GB iPod dock in my auto so the rotation is pretty wide and varied. I'm going through my library at the moment from A-Z and deleting stuff I don't want. I'm currently on the letters M & N:

- The Mars Volta (De-Loused at the Comatorium & Frances The Mute)

- Mad Season - (Above)

- Midfield General (Generalisation)

- Miles Davis (Kind of Blue)

- Modest Mouse (Everything bar their first album & EPs)

- Mogwai (Everything)

- Morphine (Cure For Pain)

- Mr. Lif (Mo' Mega)

- Muse (Showbiz & Origin of Symmetry)

- Mylo (Destroy Rock & Roll)

- Nico (Various)

- Nick Cave & Bad Seeds (All his studio albums & some live stuff)

- Nina Simone (Compilation)

- Nine Inch Nails (The Downwards Spiral & With Teeth)

Needless to say, none of the above are getting the chop.

I also listen to a lot of podcasts and the occasional audiobook.
