So, just thinking, your main character is the bad guy, not necessarily the hero in the conventional sense, but the guy who comes out on top. ??

I'm having trouble with this:

Given the the antagonist is synonymous with “the bad guy", it's not easy.

There have been many films that either have the villain as the protagonist...and some of who have reson to think they are in the right.

There Will Be Blood
My Best Friend's Wedding
American Psycho (although technically, Bateman was over worked and hallucinating)
Nightcrawler
Last Days Of Disco
X Men films (Magneto)
Avengers Infinity War (Thanos)

most gangster movies
some vigilante films

I kind of hate you, Blondie. I have no potential villains left on my list....

Yep, scrap my initial shortsightedness.  There are indeed numerous examples.

Such an open theme should make it easier but I'm drawing a complete blank at the moment, especially with the elements I have left.

I hope for less obvious villains. And glad crime genre was entirely explored!

Or Papers!

But I think Legacy fits too. Does it? I wish people told me here if Legacy fits this. Because I like moreof this type of stories, where the villain is not so obvious yet he's a villain.

Not all villains are twirling their mustaches, petting their cats and spinning their world domination globes...

Pinky: What are we goin' to do tonight, Brain?

Brain: The same thing we do every night, Pinky. TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!

Pinky: Oh...

Brain: Quick! Pinky, do we have a world domination globe?

Pinky: Aww, sorry Brain.

(checks list)

Pinky: All we have is a bendy straw, an oil filter, a USB extension cord, and a SimplyScripts mug.

Brain: I suppose that will have to do. Onward, Pinky, to one of four completely inconguous locations to hatch our plot!
