Using Celtx's no longer supported desktop software (currently 503 views) |

I've gone back to using Celt'x free desktop software despite the fact that it is no longer supported by devs, as I'm not subscribing to WD in order to have more than three saves at ones and FD is out of my price range as a hobby writer. (celtx's free in browser version is awful).
The only issue I've run into so far is not being able to do some minor formatting stuff on title pages - no bolding of titles, underlining, italics etc.
And the fact that dual dialogue is borderline impossible.
Anyone got any workarounds? |

Are you on PC or a Mac?
I think there should be a number of options available, even some for Linux.
What you should definitely do is download a moody copy of Final Draft or even just download the trial version and then use a keygen to use it fully. |

“shouldn’t”
Meant to say you shouldn’t download a moody copy etc. Definitely not. |

I honestly I tried to download FD (with full intention of paying for it once I became the next Shane Black) but theyve done something so they won't let you use if they detect a downloaded a copy. I simply don't have 100+ dollars for a hobby,my day job is as a social worker so i ain't loaded
Trelby has most of the same issues as Celtx desktop but even more, in terms of being able to use bolding an underlining. Support it conceptually, though. |

I used Fade In, full version on desktop and app version on iPad, works great and is a 3rd of the price of FD... developer is a fellow writer so is very responsive to suggestions (and the interview I did with him is still on here somewhere!) |

This. I've used Final Draft and CeltX, and while FD has everything you could need, the price is ridiculous, and when FD8 got all glitchy on Windows 10, I got frustrated with it and chose to ditch it. CeltX -- I'm just not a fan of on-line writing. Anyone can hack a user account. I switched to Trelby about five years ago and have been using it exclusively ever since. It doesn't have dual dialogue, and bold/italics/underline are only available for slug lines and the title page. But while it may not have everything you want, it does have everything you need. And you don't need bold, italics or underlines in a screenplay. And, Trelby is absolutely free. |

Lon, You can easily download the desired font from the internet and upload it for your script in trelby and it will convert(as per the chosen font) the action/dialogue/character or everything as per your choice. Regarding the title page it has got 3 fonts by default with options for italics, bold and underline. You can't ask more from a free software. |

I concur. Problems with Celtx desktop are exactly the reason I, too, switched to Trelby.
Celtx got to the point where it was deleting my revisions, so the "current" scripts were several revisions behind.
You can easily import your scripts into Trelby, but you may have to fine tune the formatting and delete braces || that are randomly added during the conversion.
There are some things I miss about Celtx, such as character sheets and the scratch pad, but that's merely auxiliary. Trelby is all I need on a pauper's budget.
Good luck with your endeavors. |

True all that. And it's open source, so anyone with the knack for code can tinker with it however they wish. If a user has the know-how to make it include various fonts, more power to 'em. |
