Conventional wisdom is that great defenses overcome great offenses. We'll see!

One note: I think great defenses do much better against the Pats once they've seen them once. This was the case with the Giants in 2008 and last year. Miami always slows the Patriots because they are so familiar with them. Baltimore sees them in regular season every year.

Usually the first time a team sees it, they are overwhelmed. Everything is so fast with New England. That's what happened a few years ago when the Bears played them with the top defense, in Chicago, in the snow. The Pats dropped like 40 on them in a blow out.

Not saying that's going to happen. Should be interesting. Except for Stevie!

49ers/Patriots was my preseason superbowl pick... so this will be a nice little preview.

talk about strength vs strength

Patriots #1 passing offense. 49ers #2 Passing Defense
Patriots #1 points scored. 49ers #1 in points allowed
Patriots #7 rushing offense. 49ers #2 rushing defense.

ill take an elite defense over an elite offense any day.

Colin Kaepernick is the key/x-factor to this game. if he plays big time.. the 49ers win. if he falls apart the patriots win.

its that simple.

30-26 49ers.

All those stats are cool, but...
As to this Sunday's game, I think it will come down to turnovers again...
Assuming the inked rookie doesn't fold in our house in the first quarter.

There's not a team out there right now that capitalizes on turnovers like the Pats.
49ers Turnover Ratio: +6
Pats Turnover Ratio: +24

Cough up the ball in our house and you're done.
Looking forward to a stellar tilt!

E.D.

I'll say that whomever wins will be decided on a simple thing before the game even starts: the coin flip.

If the Pats win it, they'll have the ball coming out of halftime. If they have the lead or are near it, the game's pretty much over and the Pats win.

If the Niners win it, they'll have the ball coming out of halftime and if they have the lead going in, they'd have a solid shot at winning.

What is going on with the Giants? Does this mean Atlanta is actually for real? I'm starting to believe.

Flacco is done. He has killed Baltimore, and they won't recover.

Getting excited Stevie?

My Rams are out.  I'm not happy.

I actually wish the Cards would lose the season out so they can get the #1 draft pick.

Rams might as well lose out as well, as they already are getting two #1's.

My season is all done...

Kaepernick is no rookie....he's a bonafied badass with the best offensive coaching staff in the league...and Jim Harbaugh.... grooming him

Credit to your guys, Kev for a great comeback. I was screaming at the Tv when it was tied! But the Niners came out and iced it when panic was maybe looming.

Gonna be a full on playoff series with both conferences tight amongst the better teams. That augers well for us as we have played our best v the best

That kick off return was killer. I think without that the Pats would have won. But the Niners were the better team tonight. Some good hits caused those fumbles.
