I always wonder why peeps turn their script in so early, as opposed to waiting, rereading, editing, etc.
To each their own, but my advice is to w...a...i...t.
I was thinking this as well. I'm almost finished mine and I'm glad because now I get a few days to sit on it and try and get the crispest edit possible.
My idea kind of sucks, but every other idea I thought of, I'm not talented enough to cut down to only ten pages! But I'm having fun writing it and hopefully there's some entertainment value for those who read it. Nothing profound though ahha.
A bad writer, trying to become decent...
Thank you for all who put up with my work and try and help me improve.
I'm still toying with ideas. A few possibilities so far, but it turns out witches and horror aren't as easy a fit as I had believed. I have the horror scenes I want, now just trying to gel them with a small story that fits.

I agree, Rene. If you look at witches in a realistic way, it's tough, but I bet few actually will.
The cliched fictionalized witch is evil and capable of all sorts of bad shit. I think that's the way most will handle this and probably the best way to look at horror and witches in a short script.
Modern witches are so... mamby pamby goody goody - once you get beyond the pagan aspect, of course.
Whatever. I still got one, two, THREE MORE days to pull a rabbit outta my aaaaa... hat. (Actually, my Friday is booked. I really only have tomorrow and Thursday, and I've got plenty of other gotta-do stuff to do. Yikes! )
I really like this theme but I haven't had any lightbulb moments yet.
I know nothing really about witches, when it comes to horror I tend to stick with the creatures and rowdy teenagers being slaughtered but sometimes that can give a fresh take on a subgenre.
Did some research on modern witches and found some interesting stuff for sure, but If I come up with an idea it will probably be some weird hocus pocus stuff.
I always have a hard time doing serious horror, I just want to get goofy.

Yup. That's pretty much the way I handled it. I would have loved to go further with my idea, as I originally came in with a different, more unique concept but just couldn't flesh it out.
The way I ended up was more suitable for a Halloween short though. Kind of like V/H/S style in my opinion.
And to Kev, why does this have to be serious?
Because I sure hope it doesn't have to be!

I started last night. Had a rough idea Friday and let it gestate through the weekend. The page limit has been especially tough and I had to throw out a lot of ideas that might've been viable with even five or so more pages.
Initially, I was turned off by the theme. I thought it was too similar to that other OWC and similar enough to my last feature, even though it wasn't about witches per se. In the end, I figured the theme was too broad not to participate and I've had a spot of free time for a change. Thus far, I think I've come up with something sufficiently old school and if not scary, at least spooky.
I went for something rather unique in regards to witches in general.
Can't say what it is, as if I do people will know I wrote it. Should be interesting to see how people take it in truth, and I think I finally found the correct genre to write.
Not the "standard" way of a witch to act, that's for sure.
Having just cpming out of the hospital (blood clot), I still might be able to pull this off. The topic, however, isn't really my cup of joe, after seeing, in the hopspital, near endless promo commercials for American Horror Story Coven and that other witch themed show for...Lifetime? and when I think Warlock, I think of actor Julian Sands for some reason...
