SUMMITTED 1ST TIME! OK...just sent in my second script ever written...be gentle boys(and girls) !

It also worth pointing out that OWC critisim can be brutal, that's just the reality of the OWC. At least for as long as I've been participating.

Try not to let it affect you, take the helpful stuff and use it to better your writing, and let the rest of it slide off your back. You definitely need to be thick skinned as a writer.

Good luck.

...To make matters worse, I had to blow off date night with my girlfriend and she's pissed and won't even read it.  ARGH!!!

Oh dear, again with sleeping in the spare room?
Remember last OWC, roses, chocolates? I think the poor girl is long overdue for some.

Or you could do something REALLY special.

Dedicate your OWC script to her.

horror

noun
1.
an intense feeling of fear, shock, or disgust.

Thought I'd throw this up again a few hours before closing. I think people have some very set ideas about what makes a horror, but the spectrum is very broad.

It doesn't say fear and shock and disgust. It says fear or shock or disgust.

It's all about making someone feel one or all of these things when they read your script.

Yes, and that, lots and lots of suspense. But I guess in the absence of the other stuff you'd have a thriller?

And yet there is still a part of me that hopes this is all posturing and that you are going to put up a contender.

That's still my goal, Brother!

As you said the other day, 1 day you love your script, the next, not so much.  I'm just hoping that works in reverse, as well, as I'm not loving mine right now, but I did love the concept.

We'll see.  No posturing here.  You have my word.

I'll have to share what I almost went with, when the clock runs out. It's too crazy not to.

There can still be some blood, but the suspense shouldn't take a back seat to shocking gore.

Ooh! Let me guess...

Over Paris, a Nazi blimp is attacked by a horde of bloodsucking, winged creatures.

Quoted from PKCardinal

Is it the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile? 'Cause nothing says suspense like a hot dog on wheels.

(Oooh! It could be a creature feature! A Godzilla-like creature attacks a city... our hero's only chance for escape is the Weinermobile. Final sequence: our hero, instead of escape, decides to pack the Weinermobile with explosives and -- sacrificing himself -- baits the lizard into eating it. Working title: BELCH.)

BTW, swear to God, I thought of this except it was being chased by hell-hounds. I was stupefied when I read this and had to come up with something new.
