The primary purpose of the SimplyScripts Discussion Board is the discussion of unproduced screenplays. If you are a producer or director lookng for your next project, the works here are available for option, purchase or production only if you receive permission from the author.
NOTE: these screenplays are NOT in the public domain and MAY NOT be used or reproduced for any purpose (including eductional purposes) without the expressedwrittenpermission of the author.
Reading some of the posts here, I see myself in good company since I also arrived somewhere at the 70 page mark with a FADE OUT written, which felt good of course.
Since many of you helped me: especially Gabe gave great feedback I took to heart and Kham who inspired a lot of my attempt, I like to share an interesting experience I made today. Although you probably know it,,,, ;-) but I myself forgot it as well, how powerful it is, so maybe, it helps you to remember.
Spend the 1$ on ink and paper and print out your screenplay. This today solved some issues in my script I wouldn't have believed I get done in this quantity.
It's just different to hold the paper in hand. A laptop screen you stare on can't compare in that area. Especially when checking the set-ups and pay-offs, rhythm, transitions, audience receiving, expectations, planted distractions. It's just multiple times as effective when been able to scribble everywhere and flip back and forth and in general good to get off from the 'machine'.
@ regarding the submissions imo there's no anonymity needed here since it's about the long route, the big game. The parameter explanaition has never been changed though, even as it has been proclaimed that it's all 'open'. ??? What do you think? And also what do the hosts think? Or rather rule :-)
For me, it really comes down to being a slow writer. Lol. Unfortunately it takes me time to put the idea on paper. I would like to submit something that I know I’ve done my best, even though others will slaughter it. Lol.
I will submit this. Unfortunately, it looks like it’s going to be after the deadline.
Gabe
Just catching up.
If you’re interested in reading anything of mine, ask.

A deadline is a deadline. Others should not suffer since I couldn’t keep up with deadline and criteria.
Khamanna, if you feel uncomfortable in submitting in your script, don’t do it. I would encourage you to do so since your script is better off than mine. Lol. But it’s your choice. I will still read it and your familiar how I review scripts. This applies to others.

Has anyone submitted yet? I know chrisbodily did. I’ll probably submit it via the regular route and not via 7wc to keep things fair.
Ah, don't worry that much, Gabe. I rechecked the foregone 7WCs and there wasn't even a voting, which I find absolutely correct btw. I'd also see no need for anonymity or anything... there's no sense to find for me.

Don't know of anyone other than Chris. I'll need to get mine in by Thursday evening.
The hardest part for me, being unaccustomed to the genre, is breaking the rule about characters suffering for their bad deeds. I got one guy who really deserves to be ground into hamburger... but doesn't.
Just about eight hours to go for anyone who's planning to submit (or, if you already have, to rewrite). No matter what, I just want to say I'm proud of everyone who enters or attempted it because a feature, no matter the kind, is always an undertaking. =)
