I was wrong. It hasn't come. Rough notion of story, main character, McGuffin, but there's not enough to go with. Think I'll bow out.
Best wishes to those in the throes of creation!
I'm still stumped too Henry. By that I mean I've lots of vague semi formed ideas rattling around in my noggin, but nothing concrete that I can settle on yet. I think of something, then discard it, think of something else...And on it goes. Hopefully something will win out.
Two things: As Pia said last time (I think she said it)... This is not a race.
And, Don has stipulated the first 10 is optional to post.
Also, I'm not letting the McGuffin get in the way at the moment. Get the overall story first.

Correct. This isn't a race. 7 weeks is plenty of time to write at least a first draft. What method you use, is up to you. The goal is to get a first draft done.
As far as the McGuffin goes, I think that one's easy. I wrote one a couple of months ago, that fit this challenge, which is why I'm not taking part, but I'd be happy to trade feedback when the time comes. It's a heist script. A woman who works in a bank steals something from one of the safe deposit boxes. When some other guys find out, they want that something from her, no matter how they have to do it. What she actually stole is of no relevance and is never revealed. It just motivates the characters. It makes her steal it and it makes the other people want to take it from her.
Not going to be able to participate in this - got an entire pile of family shit going on. Will try to read some once they are posted.
It's a shame - I had a great idea about a female vegetarian that inherits a chicken ranch - it's working title was Eggs Macguffin. - Damn - a lost opportunity.
Usually 6 - 12. Lots of people start, but don't make it. The 7WC is a lot harder than the OWC. That's why we try to be open with our ideas and try to encourage fellow writers just to get to the end. Features are a LOT harder than shorts.

I've had an idea for... a black comedy I suppose, with horror elements.
Would this be suitable for this 7WC? It's not a horror as such and wouldn't be a thriller. So does that disqualify it from this particular challenge.
First and foremost: write your story, irregardless if it fits the parameters.
Second: twice I've submitted dark comedies for OWCs that did not ask for comedies and was... what's a nice word for pummeled/flogged/excoriated? for it. I would advise against anything for the relatively straight laced audience here to conservatively follow the given parameters.
