Yeah true   I was close to going down to see my dad who has been in hospital for 5 weeks. I was prepared to quarantine in a hotel for 2 weeks on return but I’ll hang off for now and go down after the lockdown is over there

Aww Stevie, hope your dad is okay. Not the dreaded virus I hope?

It’s been a struggle for him. Nothing virus related, just blocked arteries in his leg. His foot went black weeks ago so they removed his toes. Still may have to have the leg off under the knee but nothing on that yet. I ring him each day and he’s in good spirits.  My sister drives across Melbourne most days to see him and some of my cousins have visited too.  Thanks for the concern, Lib.  He’s a tough old bugger who doesn’t whinge but he’s 81 now (had a birthday in hospital) and he just wants to get to my hometown no matter how his leg ends up

Bro, give your Dad some Love, coming from AZ!  Seriously...hope he pulls through and is OK!

My Dad is 95 and I worry all the time, but he's still living alone in a 3 story, 4,000 ft place in upper WI, with virtually no neighbors, and he rakes and burns his leaves, and even salts his driveway in the winter with 40 pound bags.

He's pretty amazing and I love him dearly!

Ditto to what Jeff said, Stevie. I hope he gets better soon, and home soon.

Jeff, bloody hell, sounds like you have great family genes.

P.S. Was going to say the same re thread hijacking.
Back to business.

It's all good.  My Mom is 92 and my Dad is 80 and they are taking every precaution, but I, too, worry about them terribly.  I, too, talk to them daily.  My Mom fell, but after a call to their primary care MD, decided that they'd monitor at home rather than risk going to the ER.  Since I've called twice a day to quiz her to make sure she doesn't have a concussion.

So, everyone's assignment is to call your Mom or Dad or elderly neighbor.

Now, as of 10:22 pm edt - there have been eight votes. The eight voters have been sent a PM.  I've received two ballots with NO name.  So, if you voted and didn't get a PM from me, ping me.

Don

Yep agree. Stay at home to heal if possible.

My Mum's at home with us after a stroke.

My opinion: No nursing homes or hospitals unless absolutely necessary in the time of the plague. Too dicey! You guys have it bad over there.

We've just had a second wave in Victoria and this thing spreads like wildfire. Yet still we're so lucky so far ... compared.

Hope your Mom recovers fast, Don.

I'm a bit tired, so I'm posting week 2 a little early. I'll still be up for another half hour or so for questions, if the need arises.

Well, hope everyone's parents will turn up to be alright. It's terrible to have anyone at a hospital these days.

I have a 74 year old mother in Baku. I call her everyday to make sure she's alright. She's bored and we talk for hours.

Just voted. Thanks, Don for putting in the little tooltip when you hover over the title to show what elements they used. That was really helpful in jogging my memory!
