Hi guys. Just got an email from this site's head of product development. He'd read my script Headlong, and gave me info about Circalit. It's a free service to post scripts that may be looked at by industry people. Anyone heard of it? Thoughts/
I also got an email from the development head. I've only browsed the site so far. It seems like it's still in the premature stages of development. There's no forums and only thirty-six scripts total. I think time will tell how much of a resource it is. As of now, it seems pretty bare bones.
I've decided to give a try. We never know... One positive thing is you can show as much as you want of your script.... They want to create a kind of InkTip double. My only question is how could they have the same reputation? We'll see...
I think if he'd actually read it, he might not have sent me that e-mail!
With the opening you created in CEASM (Hey that looks cool!), I would definitely give you praise too, and not to drum up business on a site.
When I think of your script, I definitely can still feel the vibe of the opening. That's what grips me the most.
And I know you wanted to go all out with the gruesomeness, but for me, that's not what I remember. It was the essence and feeling of the opening. I can relate to it on very many levels.
Sites like these pop up every now and then with personal solicitations to various SS members. I'm not sure what makes this one any different than, say, SS, except for that it provides a little more exposure for your script at a different website. Anyone remember Media Killer from a few years back? I think they were the ones who actually took SS scripts and posted them on their website without the writer's permission. They still gave the writer credit, but at least this guy is asking for permission beforehand.
Yeah, he came asking me about 'One Last Christmas'...I'm personally fond of that script (because of the story behind its completion) but when I announce my presence as aspiring screenwriter to the world, I want something a bit less flimsy to back it up!
So Jeff and Michel, how does joining work? Do you join 'with your script', or is it more like SS?
After only one day, I received a message from Circalit:
"An anonymous Circalit member has just left a rating for your screenplay 'My Angel'
Their average rating was 9.2/10.
Here is the score they gave for each of the rating categories:
- Concept: 9/10
- Story: 10/10
- Characters: 9/10
- Structure: 9/10
- Dialogue: 9/10
They also wrote the following comments/feedback for your screenplay:
'I thought this was a beautifully written, well- thought out story. I really like the concept and you went about it in a really unique way. Characters we\'re great and the dialogue spot on. I\'m going to give it another read and I\'ll post any further comments on your wall, but i just wanted to write this before i forget '"
I only posted 40 pages, but the feedback sounds quite cookie... It could fit to any script and there's not one direct quote to my story... Is it some kind of hook?
Well, I don't know. Maybe I'm just too suspicious???
you just register i believe, which kind of contradicts the "exclusiveness" of the email i got. i was kind of excited when i got an email but i didn't know so did everyone else, haha, i should have known! the site seems a little fishy right now but i think it could be something great over time, it's got some good features i like only showing 45% of my screenplay and how people can give it a rating.
