Rick, a further query carrying on from SR's about swearing? What about nudity/sex, etc? what sort of rating can we go to if needed?
Some of these creatures of myth were young nubile chicks, so the potential is there for some boontye before the bloodletting.
Mine isn't gonna be entirely anonymous - well, I'll submit without my name, but I'm going to be the main character, meaning I'll be using my proper name. The story is set in the part of Scotland where a line of my ancestors came from, and I'm using that as a basis. i have visited these areas so having myself as the main character(though younger), I can inject more into the writing. I may use a couple of SSer names too, as other characters, just so I don't have to make up any.
Re the list of myths - i'd hardly heard of any either, so checked out that link you had, and picked out the Scottish ones. Had a sleepless night with the script going around ini my head - half of it is 'written' already!
I don't think Celtic is entirely correct, Gaelic is more correct, as some of those lore are spelled 'As Gaeilge' or 'In Irish (language)' For example Bean (woman) Sidhe (of the hills or fairy) is a Banshee (same pronouncation, Anglicised spelling)
From what I gathered...the Celtic people included the Gaels:
Quoted Text
The Celtic peoples who maintained either their political or linguistic identities (such as the Gaels, Picts, and Brythonic tribes of Great Britain and Ireland) left vestigial remnants of their forebears' mythologies, put into written form during the Middle Ages
I noted a lot of the list does seem water/lake based. Some joker grabbing you by the ankles and drowning you...but there's a handful that grab you by the ankles and pull you under the bed... But I didn't see anything confined to England/Scotland.

Someone will do it as long as it's tasteful.
The more lascivious it gets, I reckon the standard of the "actress" would start to drop, if you follow my drift...so if they get particularly raunchy, I wouldn't have them say too much of interest.

It also includes Wales and Ireland...and a few I threw in because they lent themselves to some intereting stories as I mentioned above.

I enjoy your writing, Stevie. I'm betwixt and between various reads and work and time is an issue, but I will enjoy reading your work here and as many as I can for this one.
There are about four of them that aren't to do with British mythology..aswang, pop, Dyeduska Vodyanoy and Osschaert...but I thought they sounded good so I stuck them in.
Since the UK is so multi-cultural these days, I figured they could have found their way here.
Cool. I dig that. Researching some of these myths has been really cool. This will be a fun challenge.
No kids? Then I'm out... My whole story hinges on one. Oh, well... I'll still write it. I might pool together one of these other stories, but we'll see. I've been focusing on this one since I read the criteria -- Guess I should've read it a little better.
Well, Phil -- You might have validation in your slasher theory after all.
