Knowing you the way that I do, my first thought is through the gore content and into some bedroom, or sex-filled romp...

Even if you were doing a kids' show cartoon, I'd still imagine you'd take it there.  "Daddy, why does Elsa have bigger knockers then the other girls?"

And  "Daddy, how do you know that Kristoff is happy to see Anna because of the bulge in his pants?"

And "Daddy, why does Hans wear women's clothing under his clothes and carry around "female" toys?"

Ah, the innocence of youth...

Dan  (i'm scared for his daughter's innocence )

Mate, you clearly don't know me well enough. If I ever wrote that badly, I'd just stop writing. Perhaps you could learn something from that.

Ummm, Mark,
I think you got the wrong genre bud.  It's not a porn.  It's a superhero.  Now, I know there have been some superhero porns like Spiderbabe or Lord of the G strings, or BatmanXXX, or the infamous Justice league of porn starts.

Yes, they all exist...  No I haven't seen them, save for Spiderbabe that was on HBO one night, and was quite, ummm educational, I guess....

On a side note, what do you think of the comedy restriction and the 6 page limit?  I think those don't really go with creating a brand new superhero.

And I really wonder how one could do a superhero that can see through people's clothes (and not be the villain?) or others like mind control etc...

Dan

I think of everything as porn, it's my default setting.

As for comedy and 6 pages to tell a superhero story, I think it's fine. I didn't think I'd be able to tell a story set during the end of the world in 2 pages but I managed 3 such scripts for Impact 50. Being given restrictions and challenges is great for a writer, it teaches us storytelling skills we never knew were possible.

You don't have to do an origin, the hero could already be established. You could tell the tale of a mission that goes disastrously wrong in a humorous way for example.

As for me, for the first OWC ever I have an idea BEFORE the final day and I've started working on it BEFORE the final few hours. Will this make it better than normal, or worse? Time will tell!

Here's how I look at things on occasion with the shite I talk. Me. I no imply anything else. How would the last sentence I typed look like as the epitath on my gravestone.

Now you may be sat there with your health shake, coffee or diet pepsi and think 'Oooh, that sounds a bit morbid.'

Look at the sentence at the top in quotes then picture it on a headstone in a graveyard. Go on, you write scripts, don't you? If not, why are you here?

If I saw that, I'd giggle and move on.

Which is exactly what I'm doing right now. Later.

Very unhappy with the super hero theme.  And 6 pages max?  ARGH...not happy at all.

We'll see if I can throw a pisser together.

Clearly I was paraphrasing.  And it was a joke.  And I did read your story as Sodomy, remember?  That was pretty in the range of what I put together in like 30 seconds for this exert.

And I didn't picture you writing it as I wrote it, I pictured it more as she picks it up, reads it over, then asks the questions at the end...

Harsh mate, pretty harsh...

Still (almost) love you tho...

Dan

I know it was your attempt at a joke. I just didn't find it funny. In fact, I found it offensive. So, I told my own unfunny joke, that I hoped would offend you. Say what you like about me, it doesn't affect me at all. Joking about my (or anyone's) kids should be off limits. Especially in regard to sexual content.

Would you actually say that to somebody's face and not expect to be punched?

Okay, I'm done.  I thought of the story while driving back from Vegas yesterday, so it really didn't take long to finish.  Not really funny, but neither am I.  Just good to finish a story.  I haven't done that in a while.

I really thought of budget on this one too.  Just in case someone actually wanted to make this thing!  Good luck to all on this.  Comedy is hard for me to write... and super hero... and six pages.  Fun though.

Looking forward to reading everyone  else's!

My Scripts:
SHORTS
Bed Bugs
I Got The Shaft
No Clowning Around
Fool's Gold
Five Days for Redemption

TELEVISION

Also, the link on page one there is no place to submit the script.  Maybe it's just me, or the fact I haven't been in one of these in a while.  Any help here?

Exactly.  Absolutely no reason to throw in your entry this early, unless you're not going to have network access all week.

Read it over...read it over...again and again.  You'll be surprised what you find.

Yeah, I knew you guys would say this.  Jeff, you say it every time and I appreciate it.  I will take both of your advice and do that.  I had the story already in my head and my wife has read this draft and she's usually pretty good about catching things.  Not sure how much time I'll have the rest of the week, and had the story mostly thought out, is why I wanted to put it out there.

Like you said, I'll read it over a couple more times this week and will probably catch some issues.  The biggest issue is I SUCK AT COMEDY!!!  Can't fix that, no matter how many times I read it over.

Thanks again Jeff and Dustin for the advice, which will be followed.  Good luck to you guys and the others!

Really, about the only thing I can think of right now has already been done.

Mind you, if I wasn't neck deep in projects, I'm sure the subconscious would engage.  But for now, I'll just leave the OWC rank and file contemplating this:

If ONLY Howard Stern hadn't beaten me to it years ago...

Oh, congrats on being a grandma, Pia.

Thanks, Dustin! It's still in the oven so to speak, but I'm very excited. Congratulations to you too!! Five kids! Wow! Same mother? If so, you should write your OWC with her as a superhero!

I wish everyone good luck on the OWC! Can't take part myself, but with the page limit being only six, I will try to read as many as I can. Sometimes these shorties are nice little breakes during the day.

Good Luck all.

Yep, same mother. All five are here, the oldest four getting ready for school right now. She is definitely a superhero as she seems to have elasticated skin, she'll be back in great shape in no time. Nobody could ever guess by looking at her that she's had five.

That's awesome Dustin.  Seems like you found your soulmate.  Good job.  Some people won't ever achieve that.

Good luck with the contest.
