That's awesome Dustin.  Seems like you found your soulmate.  Good job.  Some people won't ever achieve that.

Good luck with the contest.

Dan

Thanks mate, I'm definitely one of the lucky ones.

Dustin,

Congrats on the new arrival! Sounds like you'll have your hands full for awhile. All so worth it, though.

Congrats to Pia as well for GIT -- Grandma In Training!

Steve

I'm going to try just reading at night... as that is the only time I can write my own. If I look at this in the light of day, I'll delete the lot.

Despite it being daylight, it still feels like night to me and I have finished my story. It has an actual ending and I think I'm happy with it.

It would be nice too, that as we're all attempting comedy here, that we all try to see the funny in each other's work. Even if we don't. Just out of respect for our efforts. Especially the writers that are actually taking part. The ones that aren't aren't exactly obligated but should remember that we have achieved what they couldn't. Chickens.

The thing about comedy, besides its subjectiveness, is that it is very difficult to have it come across on the page. Most times, it's all in the delivery.

I've managed two pages so far. At this rate I'll have it finished next Wendesday. I'm having a new kitchen and dining room fitted so my house is chaos and impossible to write in. I'll get it done though!

I do agree with Dustin's suggestion.  Henceforth when I'm reading these scripts I won't say if I didn't find the script funny, as humour is indeed a personal thing and sometimes does not come across well on the page. However, if something does tickle my funnybone in a good way I'll be sure to mention it.

Managed to crank out a few pages inside a busy evening after writing in my head all day. Will finish tonight. First OWC entry for me since 2013. Don't have much by way of expectations, but the development process has been much different than usual (in a good way), not to mention fun. I'll take it.

That's what I initially told myself about my idea... and I'm staying in denial.

I'm trying write a short for this challenge as well. A few questions though...
Why shouldn't we put our name on it? Should we use a fake name instead?
And most important of all: What is a "pisser"?

Dear Bill,

Good snort there. I mean the drink. At least I think so. Sorry, Vlade-B, interesting name. Do you bust rhymes with a name like that? Seriously, I'm not taking the piss. I often do, but not tonight. If you're not rhyming with that name, I would humbly suggest trying it. You never know. Pardon an old man trying to talk to a younger person. People say I'm trying. Very.

You don't put your name on the script because that makes you anonymous, sort of. People may recognise your style of writing, if they read your stuff a lot. Even then, they can't be certain who wrote what. This tends to lead to reviewers being more honest and less biased about the actual scripts, without the baggage of knowing who wrote it, most of the time.

I could go on. But I'd say that's enough for now.

A 'piisser' is an old American term, mainly used by old people to describe what people in my part of the world would describe as a piss take, or a joke script. One not to be taken seriously. It should be full of gags, hopefully good ones.

I'd never heard the term before I started wandering these boards. Don't worry, young people don't use it. They are far too cool to do so.

finally caught one of these in time.  I'll try to fire one off... not much time, and i have no ideas whatsoever... but I can come up with something

I'd list my "work" here, but I don't know how to hyperlink.

"Career" Highlights
-2, count em, 2 credits on my IMDB page.
-One time a fairly prominent producer e-mailed me back.
-I have made more than $1000 with my writing!
-I've won 2 mugs... and a thong.  (polaroids of me in thong available for $10 through PM)

@vc_wg - because I crave attention
