Welcome to the April 2016 One Week Challenge:

Have you ever wanted to be able to fly? Be invisible, invincible or see through walls? Maybe a little mind control is more your style. Well, then, this is your lucky day.

This week, you're going to tell your own superhero story. This isn't some redux of a previously existing character (although I won't rule out cameos by rich billionaires in bat suits... You are creating a completely new character and letting them roam free and destroy the villains.

T-minus 170 hours until your OWC script is due.

Topic: Superheroes
Genre: Comedy
Budget: Open

You have seven days to write a screenplay of up to 6 pages. The screenplay must be properly formatted and in PDF format. The scripts are due on Friday, April 22nd at 11:59PM EST and must be submitted to: SimplyScripts.com/owc.

There will be a Writer's Choice wherein the participants (and only the participants) will be asked to select the three scripts he or she likes the best.

Timeline:

April 15th at 10:00PM EST - Theme and Genre announced.

April 22nd at 11:59PM EST - Scripts are due.

April 29th at 5:00PM EST - Names and writer's choice revealed.

Jargon:

Up to 6 pages (nobody's going to come after you if it's less, but try to keep it to 6, max).

Properly formatted & saved as a PDF file.

This isn't a contest. There are no prizes.

Free to submit.

One entry per person.

Pissers are welcome. I can't say that everyone will appreciate that type of comedy, but they are more than welcome to be entered.

You can revise your script as many times as you wish up until 11:59PM EST on April 22nd (although, for Don's sake, try not to submit until you're absolutely sure you're submitting something you're proud to submit).

Participants are strongly encouraged to read and comment/review on the scripts submitted.

Do not put your real name on your script. However, please use your real name when submitting your script. (After the challenge closes you can either have your script removed or resubmit with your script with your name on it.

Please put © on the bottom left corner of your title page.

Best of luck and I hope you guys have a lot of fun with this contest.

Back to the drawing board...  Hey, it was superhero, it was comedy and it was six pages.
Maybe as a bonus unofficial entry,, I'll write Issue #2...

Does up to 6 pages mean 1-5 pages or 1-6 pages?

I would love feedback on any of these!

Title page usually counts as page 1. So, I'd say six all up.

But if you're going by the way the pages are numbered, it doesn't start until after the title page, right? Hmmmm...

By the way, like the sound of this one. Already thinking of things I could do. 6 pagers are a good thing too. Easier to read the lot.

I see superheroes - good!

I see villains - and the question is, do I have to? As I understand correct villains should be in the story right?

A six page script is a six page story. Cover page does not count.

A little taken aback to see comedy as the genre... but, I'll see what comes up. Can't start today as I'm absolutely shattered.

Oh, congrats on being a grandma, Pia.

What Angry Bear said sounds right. If anyone counts my title page in the page count I will be forced to get my lawyers on their case. I may have to go round there though, my lawyers I mean, as they too are not returning my calls. Probably a faulty line. I blame the parents myself.

Now, AB is a granny? When did that happen? Oh, congrats rather. Rude of me to go off on one before that. Or perhaps at all. Moving on...

I may have a doodle at this. The OWC I mean. Keep up. I know it's not easy. How do you think I feel? I have to write this stuff. Well, I don't. But I do.

Bugger. Where? No, I mean I forgot to go the shops. I'm washing my hair with Fairy Liquid and using old copies of a certain newspaper as erm. Oooh. Suffice to say I'm not reading them. Not that I ever did. What's for dinner. Oooh. A Pot Noodle. The evening meal of Kings and Champions. And me. Life at the edge. This writing business is so feckin' easy, ain't it?

I heard Trump's struggling. I'd struggle past the bathroom mirror if I woke up with that thing on my head. His hair I mean. And why does Ted Cruz's face look like it's made of plastic and he has been sat too close to a fire? These things worry me. I would talk about Sanders and Corbyn, but I fear many might run. Towards me I mean.

I don't like crowds. That's not quite true. Finally I've run out of steam. Aren't you glad. I know I am. Later.

Nice choice. Reminds me of a Movie poet competition a while back.

I already have a character in mind, just need to add the minor thing of a story

Can we enter more than one script?

That's a damn shame, Darren. I'll tell you what. If people can read issue 2 as a standalone story and make sense of it, I'll allow it.

Up to and including 6.

Quoted from LC

6 pages of content, plus a title page, if you're so inclined. Some people don't.

I see villains - and the question is, do I have to? As I understand correct villains should be in the story right?

Khamanna, if I understand what you're asking, are you asking to write a story from the supervillains' perspective? Maybe I misread. However, the answer to that question would be yes. You can write a story from the perspective of the bad guy.

Quoted from Angry Bear

Correct.

Good eye, Bill. Yes, there was a time towards the end of Moviepoet where somebody made this suggestion, but it has been so long that I forgot who it was, but absolutely. The inspiration for this came from them. Props. For your second question, I'm leaning towards no at the moment, just because that type of thing would fall on Don, so I'd leave that question in his domain.
